I work at a jewelry store & have 2 family members who are veterinarians, so I have access to a ton of equipment. On this piece here I put it in an autoclave for 8hrs to completely sterlize it. Then I placed it in an ultasonic cleaner for 15mins to remove and dirt and grit that has acumulated over time. After that I polished it with a med grit polish for metal once over and then switched to fine grit. After all that I put it back in ultrasonic and then let it sit in a bath of barbicide to kill any germs from cleaning it. It is now close to as clean as surgical equipment and ready for shaving.
I guess I have to work at it more then as all I do is take out the old blades and run them through the dishwasher a few times
Melted and in their own little bowls. The cuc and melon is a bit sweet, haven't lathered it yet. I'm hoping it's a bit more mellow in that form.
Update on my AoS travel sized shave cream. I'm assuming that many of you thought this is probably a aerosol SC can as I first did. Upon using it, it's actually a little pump disguised to look like a areosol can. So inside is regular AoS shave cream, you just pump it out. Worked well, nice for travel, which is it's intended purpose. 2 pumps gave me more than enough lather.
So my dad got me this as a birthday gift: Granted my birthday is not for another 3 weeks or so, but today him and I sat down and tightened up the pin and honed it. The pin came way too lose IMHO, just holding it still blade facing down, gravity would open the blade to 90*s. Then we honed it with his wicked edge sharpening system using some ceramic stones that he had. We did 2 stones then 2 different leather strops. I think that both stones were higher than 10k. Ended up getting a great edge on it. Here's a link to a video on the system http://www.wickededgeusa.com/index....en-straight-razors&catid=31:general&Itemid=46 Long story short: what a great gift, a gorgeous razor, and I'm glad my dad and I got to work on it together. Now lets see if I can be patient enough to wait for my birthday to use it. Hahaha
Godrej menthol sc ordered and ingrams menthol mist. $2.10 and $1.80 plus shipping great deal crackstar says they are both impressive creams
No Amazon surprisingly although I am more into the small time vendors that put tons of hard work into their products and business. Love my pyrate cove and can't wait to try the tsd wheat cream
Got this today exactly the same as a vintage trac II except the plastic is black instead of dark brown and the word gillette is a diffrent font
Finally found a cobalt blue soup/coffee/whatever mug. These make the best lather bowls for me I've found. $4.99 at a local kitchen shop.
