Sorry, had to edit your post a bit. SOTQ is suppose to stay a surprise (unnamed) for a little while. That way the surprise doesn't get ruined for other members waiting for theirs to arrive.

Just in today is another vintage Gillette Open comb that needs quite a bit of work. It did come with a case, but no blue box. Also what I've been waiting for came in. Some Schick injector blades AND this beautiful Vintage never used Merkur w/ plastic case and original merkur blades in the tan wax paper. The only thing is I know little to nothing about Merkurs. Can anyone tell me what model of merkur razor this is.
    Thanks

    looky what I got today.....
The Arko came from the Arko PIF contest. Thanks again, Moe. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
The 1970 Gillette P2 Black Beauty came from Ebay. It came with the original case, 1 original blade in the original metal tin. The pics do not do it justice. THIS THING IS IN MINT CONDITION!!!!! Even the numbers have all the black paint. I know I said I overpaid, when I bought it, but man is this thing worth every penny of $47.00 + $3.00 shipping!
So pumped to try it out tomorrow!

My lust for the behemoth brush is strong (hello Simpson PL14!), but my passion for ramen noodles is not. Thus, the economical Ohpaos Jumbo aka "Oh, Jumbo!" will be coming to a resto thread near you. I've selected a promising handle for the Jumbo prototype -- Gentlemen's Regiment Shaving Brush, by Avon circa 1980. (stock images follow, my source = retired Avon lady :)).

    Oh, Jumbo! (prototype handle)
    image.jpg

Field research suggests that a 26mm knot will fit nicely. (maybe I could do 28mm...) That may seem puny compared to the 31-32mm knots of the PL14 & Kent BK12, but Jumbo's longer handle should help its monster-brush street cred.

This was the 4-pc Gentlemen's Regiment Shaving Set by Avon (just FYI)

Looks like the Classic tip. HD tips are chunky monkeys. Closed comb classic would be 33c or 23c --same head, different handle lengths. 23c is longer, around 4 in. I considered her before settling on my Foxy Roxy TTO.

I am pretty excited about this one. I lost about ten auctions on the bay looking for the right price and got this beauty for $10 delivered. I can't wait to give it a spin.
