Update: Auction Ended ------ If anyone in this party's on the market for injectors, there's a Lot of 25 on the auction site that may be flying under the radar, it was only at $48 with <1 day left. Auction ends Sunday March 31 at 9 AM PST. (It's out of my league, but would be cool if someone from TSD got it & took lots and lots of pics ) ..The listing title is-- VINTAGE SAFETY RAZOR COLLECTION LOT 25
I just picked up a nice injector for 1.99 on the bay! I was the only bidder. Injectors are flying under the radar right now with all the focus on DE razors and straights, it would seem. I just wish the injector blades were a little cheaper.
My wife would kill me, but it might be worth it. The price has escalated considerably since your post, probably TSD'ers bidding against each other.
Oops . Hopefully whoever wins the big auction knows how teeny the old injectors are. I thought the first one I saw was a "mini" or travel size Nice score! What kind did you get?
I get these shipped directly to my house from the UK for about 19 cents a blade including shipping when I order 10 injectors 20 packs (200 blades) ........If you order smaller quanties the price is still great. I mention them a lot but it seems like the best deal and I always get good service. http://connaughtshaving.com/injectorblades.html I think that's probably a Type G , someone please correct me if I'm wrong
I think it is an early G based on looks & perhaps narrowed to 1950-53 based on the red case & Appleby chart. The Eversharp-Schick name (Eversharp Inc) is associated with the G's. prior to that the name was "Magazine Repeating Razor Co". But the experts will be here soon, no worries Edit: ^^ i see Mr.Razorx has already arrived! Listen to him Alan G. Appleby's research on the history & his nomenclature is here: http://www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schicktech.htm
Ahhhh there's a difference in your routines.... Lady Razorx doesn't shave her legs while standing, her technique is to soak in the bath tub first and eventually rest one leg and then the other up on the side of the bath tub. I'm pleased to report that there has been a break through,Lady Razorx has seen the light and consented to find Lady Eversharp a better home with less humid conditions in which to reside between shaves
Dang I wish I had ordered my blades from them before I got them from amazon..... Oh well. Thanks for the schooling on the injector razor, I had no idea what it was. I know its worth at least 2 bucks though It'll look awesome once I'm done with polishing it up.
No worries on the amazon blades, which you'll also see called Chinese Schicks. They're also quite popular & the injector cartridge is all metal, which many people find easier to use for blade change. (Keep the empty injectors, you can refill them with blades that come in the part-plastic injector cartridges) On cleaning -- the razor will likely still have a blade in the head. Do a search in this thread for "skewer" & you'll find tips on how to remove the blade and clean the old razor. I believe the discussion was started by Dridecker. Also, the spring on your model was not designed to open like some of the early E models. Prying open the spring can damage it, making the blade wobble. Having recently read the whole thread, that's the stuff that stuck
What sorcery was this?! Way to go, Team Razorx! Well, I'll confess something-- Before putting my Lady away (for the better part of a week), I decided to blow dry her since the dryer was nearby.... It's called the "Metro Air Force Blaster" & it should really be part of every shave den, no? (Just kidding, I groom pets as a hobby )
That's quite a blaster, and Made In USA quality too ! Is there a minimum pet weight requirement for Rover to take that ride without getting plastered against a wall ? I'm guessing felines need not apply I don't have room for it in my shave den, maybe the garage,I need one of those for after washing my
There really should be a weight requirement-- for both the groomer & the victim dog/cat. I've heard of small cats being blown across the table ...I only groom at a local shelter (volunteer) & see more cats than dogs b/c real groomers don't often carry insurance to see cats. For cats I'll clamp the hose on one end of the table & work on the other side so no one flies away ...The blaster's handy for lots of home improvement projects too! Do you have a bike?!!
