Thanks man, yeah, I agree regarding Col. Schick. Amazing inventor and genius. I am so enamoured by this Schick razor I'd rather collect Schicks from now on. There is a romance about them, a nostalgia that rings a chord for me. In time I will seek out other types. And I love the fact I can shave with such an old classic razor and get better shaves I never could have imagined with the double blade carts I used for years.

By way of today's shave I'm reminded once again how fabulous the 1912 razor is....Such a pretty razor...this one is of the Ever Ready variety with the ornate Art Nouveau handle, and the Gold plating looks like it was done yesterday...The design appears very simple...like using a clothes pin to hold a short Straight razor to a popsickle stick...but its an enginering marvel...the closed tooth comb is probably the the hippest most comfortable style of razor guard to ever surface...The balance, the blade angle, the weight, everything is simply perfect...:happy096:...It really does deliever Shavette quality shaves but in such a user friendly package and with so much style...I would be perfectly happy if this was my only razor...The fact this design is a century old is unbelievable...If you haven't yet...this is one classic that everyone should check out...and most everyone will fall in love with it...

An Ever-Ready 1912 was my 1st SE Razor, back then even though I was (and still am) crazy about my pre-1923 model Gillette OLDs...I didn't own any injectors yet.I thought SE razors were sort of goofy looking little curiosities from long ago.I finally picked up one of the versions with an ornate handle thinking it would be nice to have at least one token SE.That Ever-Ready 1912 sat for weeks until I finally saw some blades for it at a drugstore and figured why not give it a spin ?

I still remember my first shave with it.About 15 seconds in I came to a complete stop with the realization that SE shaving was a force to be reckoned with,a whole new ballgame.

Since then I've tried almost everything made by GEM or Ever-Ready and honestly there's not one of 'em I couldn't live with as a daily driver as long as I adapt my technique to match the razor's strengths.

Although it wasn't the razor I wanted to love, the OCMM with it's knock out performance turned out to be my favorite.

On the subject of the OCMM and it's "knock out performance".....yesterday I did my first "shave off" between my shavette and a safety razor....I didn't plan on it, but it happened....

So I did the first stroke...my left side-burn to jaw line with the 'Shavette"...It was perfect leaving clean skin in it's wake///Right side-OCMM...same results
Left Jaw line down...Shavette...good 1st pass but definitely more passes needed////Right side...Clean skin in its wake...
Left bottom lip....Shavette....still a problem area, will need more passes//////Right side....Clean skin in it's wake....

Well to make a long story short....Shavette did a great job but took some time and needed a clean up pass after all was said and done....
OCMM side took less than half as long and didn't need a clean up pass....in fact....I did the left side clean up pass with the GEM MM....lol!

So I have to say....not only does the Micromatic deliver a shave quality as good as my shavette....it delievers a shave quality better and faster....lol....But in all fairness I haven't used the Shavette in a month....but after today, I probably won't be using it for a while...

I've only got the H-M, and I have so much solid great shaving history with that one....Thats one razor that should always feels secure ....But I think the Hydro-magic, 1912 & OCMM have formed a triumvirate that has the rest of my razors looking through the real estate pages....There ain't much a razor can do to deal with those three...

    I can't pick a favorite between those 3.....
It's like....The Schick H-M is the easiest shaver I've ever seen and will deliever just as nice a shave as anything...but it might take an extra pass or two to do it ...

The OCMM knocks out the closest fastest shave I've ever seen-Stop check please...case closed...It kicked my Shavette's butt today....I mean...come on...

The 1912 will deliever just as close a shave only it takes maybe one or two more passes to do it...BUT!! It's so much fun!! It sounds like my shavette with a microphone attached.. lol, I love the sound, and on days I don't use it I miss that.... and it is soo gentle that you feel like you are pampering yourself with each pass...and the end result is perfection...It's aggressiveness is only apparent by it's results, you'd never guess it was that aggressive by how it feels....

So when you say take over...your not kiddin'....

    Update:

I bagged a Schick I type on the bay last Friday! I'm excited!

It's a nice looking I2, or perhaps I1 because it doesn't say "hydro magic" on the head, yet the head has the Hydro-Magic feature. Is this an I2 or I1 with Hydro-Magic lever?

I can't wait to use it!!!

Bought this lot on ebay today mainly to get the adjustable injector. I think the SE is a Clog Pruf? Oh yeah, and a Slim. Can't wait to get them in the mail :)
