I used my 500 in todays shave, and there were a few rough patches just because it was the first time using the razor. However it is solidly built and an excellent performer. The long handle makes this one a real gem to work with! Needless to say I am looking forward to years of wonderful shaves!

Great Picture BTW....I'm looking forward to seeing you get many years of fantastic shaves with this Foxy Vixen of a razor...Whew!! She's absolutely killin'..

I have used the analogy before with these J types...that its like shaving with a paint brush...that handle does give you that type of accuracy for detail...

Hey Thanks! I played a little with the 'glow' of the picture to make the gold really shine! :) I hate it when you have a beautiful gold or silver razor and you can't really tell what it is in a photo. I completely agree with your analogy of the long handled Schicks. It is like a paintbrush, as you work on your masterpiece...the perfect shave! ;)

What is the consensus on Schick Super Chromium blades from the 80s? What is a fair price on them? I found about 10 boxes in a local gas station. Has an offer for a razor that expired in 1989. I plan on buying to use but, what is a fair price for them, have $4 a box original price. Thought about offering less and buying them all.

They were great blades...Excellent!...By one, run home, shave...if you dig it...by them all...I'm a big believer in stockpiling the things that you know you love...If you change your mind later you can always pif them or trade or sell...

OK, went back today and there were 8 boxes of Super Platinum. Bought them all. Shave tonight with my Arko ice mint that is waiting at the PO.

I picked these up a year or so ago at a little mom and pop grocery store. They're great blades, I'd snatch up every one I could find.

Thank you! Yes I find it more aggressive than the L. The L is very mild but very nice to use. The 500 seems more like a G to me. (please keep in mind I have only used an E, G, and L)

Speaking of the L-type, James Bond in his Lexicon Devil Roger Moore incarnation was a fan. Despite all of Q's gizmos, 007 chose the injector :D

Very happy, I got my hydro-magic today! It had no blade so after a little struggle I got a blade in, and injected a new blade in case the first blade was bad after installing. I read its hard to install a blade into an empty injector!

My OCD nature causes me me to obsess that I did it correctly, but the razor looks fine and ready to go! Tomorrow morning I'm taking her on a maiden voyage :)

I recently bought my first Hydro-Magic and I’ve now switched back and forth between my E2 and Hydro to compare.

I LOVE BOTH. I’m only on my 2nd day with the Hydro-Magic. It’s similar but different than my E2 type Schick. It’s much milder and I slightly take more time in getting my DFS. The E2 is a cutting machine, more aggressive!

It appears easier to shave my upper lip with the Hydro, meaning it doesn’t feel as threatening there!

I’ve been going at an slight diagonal ATG on the neck lately, and having success getting a stubble free neck. Both razors mow the stubble down without having to fully go ATG. This is amazing.

It’s so awesome to have a choice between different Schicks in the morning.

I just bought an Schick L2 Type Injector, which will be shipped later this month. I fun money put aside every month, usually for collecting records, but now my money is going towards these inexpensive Schicks!

    Aces!

I think it's great when you have razors that are not in competition with each other...My Schick I2, Ever Ready 1912, and Gem Open Comb Micromatic are like all perfect...no competition what so ever...But the rest of my razors seem to always be in competition...and their ranking is always changing...But those 3 I mentioned all have locked up that No.1 spot...
