How's Your Day? - May 2013

I've experience Winnipeg in early Sept. That was enough, thank you. And I understand that they still got snow there as of about 2 weeks ago. Oh well, that long weekend in late July should be nice.

 

For now, it's good, and I expect it to become better
Tonight I'm going to my 10th graduation anniversary

 

Went to Denny's this morning with my 4 year old son for breakfast and gave my expectant wife a break this morning.

Now I'm chilling at Starbucks alone waiting for my car to be done (oil change).

 

Sure hope that wall gives way soon.

found an Altman film I actually enjoyed. Quintet from 1979. It's long. It's slow. But I found it to be quite enjoyable.

And yes, I have seen MASH- I like the series but am ambivalent about Altman's film.

 

Found out last night that we're going paperback on the last 2 Crag Banyon novels! That means I get to expand the covers.

Friday, I went to the vet to pick up the new kitteh from being spayed, and when I went out to my van, there was a big puddle of green water underneath. :O

Looks like I've got a busted radiator hose. Good news is that I think I can fix it myself with little trouble. I'm hoping that's all it is.

Also, for you Whovians, I'm thinking about building my own Sonic Screwdriver. I don't want it to look exactly like any of the ones from the shows, but more my own design... I've thought about building in a TV-B-Gone or something, but I don't know, I just might make it light up and make the noise. Any suggestions?

 

Gave my face a break this morning after a bad shave on Sunday. I am really tired this AM. Even though I've been wet shaving for < 1 week, it really is a good start to the day. Drinking some coffee and I'll look forward to my shave tomorrow.

 

Go old school. The Tom Baker era sonic screwdriver is better than the modern versions.

 

The thought has seriously crossed my mind. I was thinking maybe a hybrid design somewhere between modern and retro.

The larger size also gives you much more room for circuitry.

On an unrelated note, has anybody ever tried bluing a DE razor?

 

Um, ya know, you can buy them (incl. a "make your own" kit) on thinkgeek.com, right?

 

The glowing neon on the modern version is just too Star Wars-y for my tastes. Makes me think of a lightsaber. There's no mistaking Baker's version for anything other than a cobbled together piece o' junk.

Kit? We don't need no stinking kit!

Nursing a bit of a sore hand today. Lost my patience/temper and tried to take it out on a cinder-block wall, yesterday. You win wall... this time. Woke up with a bit of a headache, but as soon as I get a rice cake and some nutella down my gullet, I'm gonna take something for it. In other news, I managed to get out of working sound at tonight's talent show because the missus and I booked and paid for a class on book binding over 3 months ago! That should be kind of fun.

Got a productive hair yesterday and decided to investigate the sudden loss of radiator fluid the van experienced on Friday. Ended up having to take the doghouse off the engine to get to it, but I believe I found the root cause. It was exactly what I expected, a busted radiator hose. Now, I've just got to find a hose for a 24 year old van.

 

oh ouch! Hope they heal quickly. Keep an eye on the bite for infection. I've only been mauled while wearing protective gear & that hurt plenty. Your poor leg
