"GREAT" post for us mustachioed aficionado's ohpaos!! Keep up the good work!! I've had mine for 40 years, it's never been shaved off since I was 18..I'm a Zappa/Santana mix myself....
Revile the monster, but not the mustache. The Toothbrush Mustache aka Philtrum Mustache aka Soul (really!) was very popular in the first half of the 20th century. Twas favored by many, including Oliver Hardy & Charlie Chaplin (artificial)
I know the famous baseball 'staches. I'm sure Yankees fans were traumatized when "Donnie Baseball" de-furred. I *think* facial hair goes white much sooner than head hair, so dark-haired guys often shave to avoid years of jarring contrast? At least that's what happened to my dad, who says the handlebars will return when the head hair turns white. (We kids threaten to "stress him out" to speed up the process. )
That's exactly what happened to Keith. He was actually a sponsor for Just For Men gray beard cover for a while and could no longer keep it dark so he shaved it off.
The WMBC rules has categories for "natural" mustaches & categories in which "aids are allowed." <--- dunno what that means, but for TSD I will investigate the underbelly of this mysterious, hyperfollicled world. If I go MIA, send in mustachioed backup!
