I'm digging my 1967 Schick Dial Injector with new standard issue Schick blades set to "3". I can do no wrong. It cuts through everything no matter the direction - no pulling - no blood. Date night shaves every time. What a fantastic tool! Drinks for everyone. And it all got started with a G1 that got PIFed to me by Youngunn. Thanks again bro.
I just got an ivory handled, gold head J1 for $. 50 at a swap meet. Ordered some blades for it when I got home.
I got the Schick blades. I took the lazy way out and got them from Amazon. The Personnas they were selling had poor reviews so I held out until I could do more research.
The Schick blades are great. I think they are currently made in China. They should make you happy. If you don't like your shave, try an adjustable with the same blades. I want to get a PAL stainless adjustable just to try it out.
No, but he talked about it a few times though. He said he gave Otis a "twice over" when he went out of town in one episode.
I just scored 13 NOS 5 packs of vintage Schick injector platinum coated SS blades. I will receive them in about a week. I can't wait to try them out but it's more than I need. I paid about $5 per pack delivered. PM me if you have any ideas on how I can share the wealth. I probably have 7 packs I can get rid of if there's any interest in these. I'm going to keep 2 or 3 packs to dress up some razors I might want to sell later. Edit: I found a taker on my excess blades offer. So these are done. Enjoy
He also talked about how much he hated auto lather machines in one episode. He said there is nothing like a mug and a brush, He just loved the sound 'flop flop' you can't get that with a lather machine.
If you used all of those it would no doubt be at the expense of all those other great razors you own!
I want to spend at least 30% of my time with my injectors because they shave so well. I was due to buy some Schick's anyway so I thought what the heck I'll go for vintage blades.
Makes perfect sense. I look forward to trying my Injector. I used to use the Adjustable one in the 80's and I stupidly discarded it for the new multicarts of the time.
You have a knack for getting great deals. I almost scored a PAL the other day. It was paired with another razor and I got snipped at the last minute because I got greedy and bid too low. I was hoping to get the PAL essentially for free but it wasn't to be. So I have to wait for another time. I think a PAL will definitely be worth a try if I can score it for about ten.
The good thing is, you can afford to wait and get just the one you want for the price you want to pay. I remind myself that these things aren't necessary and stick to my guns. I adjust if it moves up a bit in priority but overall I just wait...and wait... and...
I've mentioned this before, but tomorrow morning is the day I try the BIC Sensitive disposable shaver! Last time I tried one, it was the mid-ninties, and the experience wasn't too nice, but I didn't do any prep back then.
