This is on the bay. The owner doesn't know if it's a recent replate or and original English rhodium razor. Can TSD brain trust tell from the clues given? Doesn't show Patent Numbers. And the case may not be the original. Here's the pictures.

Well it says Made in USA so it's not English. Were there any USA Rhodium Aristocrats?

Edit: Just went to Mr Razor. It doesn't show any USA Rhodiums. I have a Complette Gillette Collector Handbook PDF on order so that doesn't help.

This is from Mr Razor: The razor case looks the same but the blade case looks a little different. And would the guy have Rhodium Plated both the razor and the blade case???

I'm no expert so I could be wrong. The closest thing to an Aristo Rhodium made in the USA is the President. Which the is not a Pres either, I think it is a bright nickel re-plated Aristo. The blade case is wrong and I think Rhodium would be shinier under the base plate. Here is the Pres with the smooth part at the bottom but not the top.

    Right the Knucks. LOL.

But you see how shiny the underside of the base plate on the Exec is in that pic?
That is why I'm thinking nickel.

Ask for a picture that shows the safety bar/closed comb section. In 2 out of 3 of my closed comb replates there are small areas where there is an easily notable amount of detail in the lines lost (thick plating?). Though not bad or even annoying, it's something that I've found can make a replate obvious.

This could be replated in Chrome or Rhodium, but the original plating for the U.S. Aristocrat of that era was gold.

Mixed composition on the President series. Nickel plated head with Rhodium plated handle.

Glenn, you got a nice replated razor.

Yep..Making it the closest thing to a USA Rhodium Aristo because the knuckles are very similar. Amiright??:happy102:

I googled it afterward. "Knurling" is the correct term. :prrr: But thanks for the great input :)

It certainly looks like a replated US Aristocrat. President razors will have date code on the base plate, which is usually "Y2" or "Y4" and they do not have the "wings" in the center bar of the razor head. If there is no such date code in this razor and if the center bar has "wings" then its certainly a replated Aristocrat
