I have Martin De Candre shaving soap in the unscented version. I think it is the best performing shave soap I have ever used. For those of you that have tried the scented version, I would love to hear your explanation of what is said to be an unusual scent. thanks.

    thevez2 uses Gillette's new Tarantula Razor - 8 blades!!

According to the website it is a fresh blend of natural essential oils (Benson, Rosemary, lavender, mint). I don't smell the mint at all. Honestly to me, the blend is so smooth that I don't smell anything by itself. Just the synergy of everythign mixed. It is strong, but I love the smell. Sorry I can't quite describe it even after smelling it.

I let SWMBO smell it a while back, first thing she said was "smells like Noxema". The next time I went to the store I stole a wiff of Noxema, SWMBO was right.

To me, it smells exactly like Noxema, just not nearly, and I mean NOT NEARLY as strong as if you just opened the Noxema and took a sniff.

i tried MdC tonight for the first time...i thought it was a terrific performing shave soap....thick, slick, creamy lather...the scent was ok...not a favorite but not a deal killer either.
i ran a group buy on another site and just got my shipment in which is why i was able to finally try this great soap.
definitely a fan of this and it gets moved towards the top of my list....i now will sell off some lesser used items around here.

For those who like Fougere scented soaps, MdC is releasing their version in a shaving soap mid April.

I revisted my sample of QCS Fougere last week and confirmed it's not something I would want. :(

They can keep the Fougere scent, that stuff stinks bad! Just tried their bath soap and into the trash it went. The scented shave soap is one of my favorites I do smell French Lavender and the mint. They should make a bath soap and AS splash that smells like the shaving soap.

Ha, Ha, this is why YMMV is such a big thing with individuals. The scented MdC reminds me of tar.

YMMV is in full effect with the Fougere for sure.

Ha! So true. I think of it an acquired taste, particulary for aficionados of cologne. The aromatic fougeres have such an important role in French fragrance & fragrance history that many fragrance fans find that fougere eventually grows on them (no pun intended :p)

they put a household limit of only 4 fougere per household....they sold out the first batch in a couple days...if anyone is interested..their second batch goes on sale next week.

Is it Monday the 13th? Also, do we know if it's going to be the same strength of fragrance, or stronger? Just wondering.

You make it sound like boars are a bad thing.

It's supposed to be lavender and mint, but the lavender is VERY medicinal.

I'm a physician, and there is something in the MdC scent that reminds me of the formalin we had to endure in anatomy class the first year of medical school.

For me, the scent is a complete deal-breaker. I don't like it at all.

Fougere is a classification of scents.
Anything is possible, but it seems saying one loves/hates all Fougeres would be like saying one hates/loves all people named "Sam".

Although I agree that "fougere" is a classification of scents, I don't think your metaphor is helpful, because there is no connection (other than the name) among all people named "Sam."

However, there are similarities among scents that are labeled "fougere," because it is a family of scents (you already know this). I think saying one hates all fougeres is more equivalent to saying that if one doesn't like Sam, one is not likely to enjoy the company of Sam's brothers, either (which, obviously, may or may not be true).

Theoretically, at least, it seems to me that it would be possible for somebody to have an aversion to the whole family of scents, at least enough so that he/she would have no interest in any scent in that family. I could be wrong.

If you like. However, I stand by my analogy.
You've never known people with the same first name, that shared some traits/similarities?
My point is just because they share the same name and some similarities, doesn't mean they are the same.

I do not have the time right now to look up the number of possible combination of fragrances that could be classified as fougere. I imagine the number would be quite large.
