Once again, let me keep this short and sweet: Menthol Monday: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash #6 Horsehair Super Speed/new 7 AM Arko Ice Mint SC 444 AS Balsam Barbon AS YSL Pour Homme EDT I'm in love with the Arko Ice Mint cream - it's the only Arko cream with a decent cooling sensation, not to mention its beautiful scent and lather. I'll soon need to get some more 444 balsam because the tube's almost empty, and I love it. The Barbon aftershave gives great cooling as well - even better than Aqua Velva Ice Blue.
This was last nights shave. Hot shower nancy boy shave cream Ay402 (Russian razor) polsilver SI (D-2) Fine Scottish soaps ASB De Vergulde Hand Alum block. A DFS great shave, the blade performed well I got similar shave as to when I use my Astra blades, The AY402 is such a light weight razor but it does a good job.

Ern Klar Klassic 22mm TGN synthetic knot Krampert's Bay Rum Good shave this morning, smooth and close. I think I prefer the Muhle synthetic to the TGN knot. The TGN is oversized and has a slightly different feel to it, not bad just different. Have a good one.

Monday, Monday, monday...the 17th! Beat this morn, I need a refreshing shave to get the day started! a. hot shower; Lucky Tiger Lemon wash; hot towel soak b. Pre: Pre-shave oil c. Soap: ÜberLather again: Provence Sante Green Tea soap; TOBS cream, dab of liquid glycerin d. Brush: Semogue 830 boar e. Razor: 1960 Gillette Fatboy (set to 7) with Astra SP blade f. Shave: 3 good passes & touch-up g. Post: Cold-water splash ; Pinaud Clubman AF & Nivea Balm CLOSE shave; about as near a BBS as I've come recently. First time I've done all passes with the FB set at 7; two minor weepers in my tough spots (throat), but overall: very smoooooooooth!
Monday, June 17, 2013 Camamu Bay Rhum shaving soap (Father's Day gift!), Simpson Chubby 2, Fatboy (4), SuperMax Sunrise (1), Pinaud's Bay Rum Somehow I managed to slice open my earlobe during my second pass. I didn't feel it and only noticed when I looked up after rinsing my razor and saw blood streaming down the side of my neck. I'm not sure what's going on here, but every time I've used my new Fatboy I've cut or nicked myself. Maybe I'm getting overconfident. The Camamu soap is a little harder to lather than the creams I'm now used to, but since it came from my ladies as a gift I'm not complaining and will figure out a way to make it work. Have a great week everyone!
Only with the Fat Boy? How does it compare to your other razors? Heavier? Only nicks I've gotten from the FB was when I started at 8 or 9...just to see how it compared to 1 or 2.
Yep, only the Fatboy. I also use a Merkur 1904 and a Superadjustable (Black Beauty), and have very rarely had any cuts or nicks. The Fatboy is definitely my heaviest razor, and I like the way it feels in-hand more than my others, but it seems to come with a price. I'll concentrate on being more careful next time.
Semogue 630 Proraso Sapone Weber ARC Personna Med Prep 3 passes Osage Rub The Men's Soap Shop Lemongrass and Ylang Ylang ASL I really enjoyed the menthol today.
I decided to go nice and basic this week. Van Der Hagen Glycerin, melted into a repurposed old deodorant container, worked amazingly well as a shave stick. A nice three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave with mild irritation on my neck and jaw line (which was mostly taken care of with some witch hazel) and a small nick on my upper lip (which happened during an unfortunately timed hiccup). A DFS and a new set up for the week. Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash Razor: Union Cutlery 5/8 Brush: AoS Fine Badger Soap: VDH Glycerin in shave stick form Post: Cold water rinse followed by T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel Visit my blog for more details on this shave, product reviews, and general rants: https://cryofthewildjabberwock.wordpress.com/
PRE: (4) Mile Run + TSD ISZ PSB + Shower + Am. Crew PSO BRUSH: Vintage Fuller Restore CREAM: Omega RAZOR: Merkur 38C BLADE: Gillette Silver Blue POST: Alum + Osage Rub + Nivea ASB Nice face freezing shave after a run in the hottest part of a very warm day! Not the biggest fan of the Omega Cream. Comparing it to Proraso/Bigelow, I found it less moisturizing, less slick, thinner lather, and less enjoyable scent (kinda like vicks vaporub). I have a funny story about the Osage Rub though. One of the young men I took with me to WCS, got a few samples while he was there and he tried the Osage Rub on Sunday morning. When I saw him at church he said that when he put it on he was screaming and scrambling to wash it off! Kinda reminds me of that "home alone" scene...Anyway, have a great Monday afternoon all!
