For some great coffee and for a great cause, try http://www.hondurascloudforestcoffee.org/ I can personally vouch for this orphanage/children's home in Honduras. My church does missions work there frequently and I have been there twice. Great folks that are changing the lives of those kids they take off the streets.

I'm not sure you've identified many "misconceptions," but I do agree that many large-scale coffee manufacturers over-roast their beans. . .

You haven't experienced 'roughing it in nature' until you discover the cabin where you'll spend the weekend only has for coffee a vintage jar of Taster's Choice Freeze-Dried Coffee (circa 1977)....and it's decaf.

Never camp without home brew an Aeropress and a Zassenhaus grinder. Clean underwear is not a priority . Coffee is. Pack your coffee gear first if there is still room then pack the underwear.

Barry, I don't know whether to thank or curse you. I had not considered home roasting until now.
This may end bad for me. If I were single....

Yes you did get me a great deal! I used that brush today. It keeps getting better and better.

BTW, as you might guess from my username, I realy like your new avatar. Are those steelhead or salmon?

Steelhead a 17 and a 16 pounder there is a 5 pound "Jake " still in the boat.We had enough fillets to last a year. As a kid growing up in Brooklyn I dreamed of salmon fishing in the Columbia River Gorge. My trouble was I didn't quite know where it was. I thought it might be near Pearl Harbor.

I thought they were my favorite fish (to catch) based on size and location. .

You don't drink a lot of tea compared to coffee, correct?

Bit the bullet last week (well used some Discover gift cards) and bought the Technivorm Grand. I makes some great Coffee....... It has a much larger basket so you can use more coffee than typical baskets and a lot more coffee than cone type baskets. I want to buy some standard grocery store coffee to see what it does...... maybe a project for this weekend :)

Cool! I've got a Technivorm and I love it. I use a gold filter in mine. Beware of coffee-related AD (cough, got a grinder? cough). . .

Excellent coffee maker I have the same one. Never cared much for the gold filter. I prefer the taste from Melita unbleached filter papers. Don't recognize the grinder. Looks like it might be a Bunn. If you are not getting into espresso any good burr grinder will be fine for the Technivorm. Keep your grinder clean. I use Minute rice 3 times a year to clean mine.Any questions or help you might need just let me know.
