I have some guys out at the house to take down some trees. It turns out that I went to elementary and middle school with him. He knew both brother and myself as youngsters. I haven't seen him in roughly 30 years. It was weird meeting someone again with the same shared experiences. Pleasant start to the day.
One of the drawbacks to being a BRAT - 16 different addresses by the time I was 18. I've only run into one person that I knew from school. I had met him (Roger) my freshman year (1977), then we moved half way into my sophomore year. I ran into Roger out in Ohio, of all places, in 1993. He had joined the AF as I had and was stationed at Wright-Patterson. I happened to be there as an instructor doing some training.
I went to a Bonsai Club meeting today- always fun. We were working on our trees ( & helping each other do so). Today, I did my first "forest planting". That's several of the same tree species, planted together. Not a great picture, but here it is.
What a cool hobby! Just yesterday, my wife and I went to the botanical garden hosted by Weyerhauser near their headquarters in Federal Way, WA. They have a large display of bonsaihttp://www.weyerhaeuser.com/Company/Bonsai. I was astonished to see plants that were 40, 50, and 60 years old. One especially magnificent specimen was displayed by Japan at an international exhibition in 1915! You must have a lot of patience to do this.
Back in town today after a weekend spent visiting my oldest sister in Santa Barbara. Before leaving on the 5-hour drive back north, I took a nice stroll with my sis & brother on the beach that's about a 5-minute walk from her home. Beautiful day!
That's what you get when Minions are on an exchange tour with Penguinators. Identity crisis. It's his way to dress up as a penguin. He was going for the 'butler-look' but didn't get it quite right. As Minions often do. On the other hand, it suits him, doesn't it? XD
