Yep! It does basically the same thing as a slant. I don't have a slant but, I do it all the time when shaving my neck. (With a full beard that's all I shave other than trimming and shaping.) I picked up that technique when I used a straight razor because that's the only way to get a close shave on the side of my neck area.
I might have to try out a Merkur 37C one of these days. (Lord, help me!) :D

I didn't really notice any increase in the usual creaminess of the TOBS when I added the additional Glycerine. Seemed the same as normal. I'm concluding that the TOBS, since it already has the Glycerine ingredient, doesn't really need the additional drops because, it's already got enough in the original mix ratio and no appreciable improvement is gained by adding more. Further, that the Glycerine would improve a soap or cream that didn't have Glycerine as an original ingredient. (Of course, this scientific conclusion is coming from a guy who blew-up his chemistry lab experiment!) lol

On this day, 22 years ago, Slovenia declared its independence from Yugoslavia. Milan Kučan, Slovenia's first president, said this famous quote on that day: "Danes so sanje dovoljene, jutri je nov dan." Here's a rough English translation: "Dreams are allowed today, tomorrow is a new day."

    Wash: TSD unscented soap
    Lather: Razorock Boston Tea Party
Mühle hjm Black Fiber synthetic brush
    EJ DE87
    New Astra SP blade
    Cold rinse
    CeraVe lotion

The Razorock soap never disappoints with the volume or quality of lather. I wish I could use it more often, but even the subtle, pleasant tea fragrance will cause my rosacea to flare up if I use it several days in a row. So I will go back to one of my unscented soaps tomorrow. :(

    Three passes, smooth face.

    • Razor: Star 1912

Directions: wet face, apply cream to face, work into creamy lather.

Lather? Not. At. All. Changed to bowl lathering. No lather. Just cream.

So I just shaved with that. Had an allright shave. The Code Blue AS has a tiny bit of menthol in it. Just a hint.

    Tuesday:
    • Prep: hot washing cloth
    • Music: Dire Straits, Brothers In Arms
    • Brush: Omega travel boar
    • Cream: Brave Soldier, Brave Shave
    • Razor: British Gillette Aristocrat Jr.
    • Blade: Personna Red
    • Shave: 3-pass + touch-up
    • Post: hot water rinse, cold water rinse, Brave Soldier code Blue AS, hand strop blade

Still no lather. Just cream. Perhaps it's the hard water over here. But using the cream still gets me nice shaves. :)

Likewise, Bruce - I didn't know it was "The Gillette Slide". I've found that slanting the razor cuts the whiskers closer with each pass, especially around the neck area.

Which is why I've heard the Slant called the solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

I always shave my neck like that, but I usually use a slant. Does that mean I'm unslanting my slant?

Yep Nick that's it! I always had trouble with the neck area (especially around on the side where the big neck muscle is) but it really gets it close there. It's a rather dangerous stroke for a newbie as there is a delicate feel to keep from not slice one's self doing it.

Today marks the end of the Semogue 1305's Inaugural Soap Tour. Once again, the Semogue performed exceptionally with the CC lime soap. The brush is surprisingly soft with backbone. Tomorrow, it will become third in line of my brush rotation. The SE tour continues with the Gem Jr. 1912. Again, another exceptional shave with a razor with a 101 year old patent. Tomorrow, I will use the Gem MM open comb.

I thought the slant design also made the blade more rigid. Am I wrong?

That two razors I got from Danny (Dslazar9) are fantastic shavers! BBS except the chin area. I think I'll need more honing skill to hone my W&B to that level. And improve the technique of the shave. Time to learn!

I've never thought of that, but the way the blade gets twisted in the head does seem to pre-load it more that a regular razor. I guess that would take some spring out of it, like pulling a rope taut. Maybe that's why there can be so much blade exposure without flex.

Makes perfect sense. Less blade flex when torqued like that.

First shave with this NOS L Type iNjector. It was a very nice shave. I like the longer handle, makes me want to get a J Type now also.
