Hello everyone. Just getting started with the shave den and de shaving. My hubby just purchased a pink lady gillette for me and I was a little apprehensive at first ( I thought I was going to for sure cut myself ) but it was the best & quickest shave I've ever had! I also love the look of my razor, it makes me feel much classier lol Anyway I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about DE shaving and also straight razor shaving. For one, does anyone know of women shaving their legs with straight razors?
I might be new to TSD and not even close to knowledgeable as the vets around here...but I know for a fact, that women CAN shave (their legs) like a BOSS too! Welcome and enjoy!
Welcome! I shave my wife's legs every weekend, used to do it with a straight but for the last year or so I used a Feather Artist Club DX razor (straight razor with replaceable blades). The club doesn't exist any more but when it did the Belgian Traditional Wet Shavers Club had some meetings where the woman came along and several of them had there legs shaved by there men with a straight razor, I never saw a woman do it herself but if anything they would probably do a better job then most men ;-)
to TSD ladymunkee88........Nice having yet another lady join the Den, I hope you enjoy it here... As for shaving legs with a straight I've never tried it .. I'm not positive, but I believe some other ladies here have tried it...I'm sure if any have tried it, they will happily fill you in on how it went....
If memory serves, ohpaos, our resident Smiley Provider and soap geek, uses a straight razor for her shaves.
Hi! Welcome to the Den. Be sure to sign up for our July Newbie Give-Away. Finally converted my wife to a DE - she has a Pink Lady, as well, and loves it. I also have her first brush on the way - yup, pink! The conversion to using a DE was a long, slow process. I'm smart enough to know trying to get her to use a str8 at this point would be an exercise in futility!
Thanks for the 'welcomes' everyone! Such a great idea, I think I'll ask my hubby to shave mine with his straight razor. Thats such a nice gesture! Thank you! I will check it out.. & I understand where your wife is coming from, I was definitely unsure about DE's at first but it helped when i fell for the pink Lady G my hubbs showed me. We looking into brushes right now but the good ones are so pricey. I even found a plisson (sp?) white mountain badger brush for close to 4g's lol (I'm very good at finding the extra nice/pricey ones)
I have found that for most shaving items the law of "you get what you pay for" does not necessarily hold true. There are many inexpensive items out there that are far from cheap. Must be in a woman's genes. You can have two nearly identical items sitting side by side, and without looking at a price tag my wife can pick out which one is the more expensive
Welcome to TSD. I bought a Champagne Lady Gillette for my wife, but she is reluctant to try it. Glad to hear you ladies having good luck. I need to have her read some of the posts from the ladies on the forum.
My wife tried DE but didn't like it,unfortunately.... A Turkish vendor called bestshave.com has several cheap horsehair brush's. The one I use is called the #6..Bestshaves QC isn't that great, but the price for the brush is($5 shipped)..I've used my #6 brush daily going on 2 years now and I find it works great..It's kind of between bagger and boar, mine has broken in very nicely.....Some other people here also use the #6, some like it and some hate it,I LOVE mine, but either way for the price I feel its worth checking out..
