    Wednesday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: VDH Original Unscented
Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 Open Comb
    Blade: Bic Hi-Chromium Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum, Dickinson's WH
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d'Orange

Two passes today, simply because two passes today with the Bic (on its first day) brought me as close a shave as three with the Shark (on its 3rd day) did yesterday. Some early signs of a pimple convinced me to skip a day of the ASB. Darned near BBS.

Fantastic shave today. I must say Feather blades don't ware as well as others. I usually get six to seven shaves from one Astra, and this is getting le boot on day four. Blade aside, everything else was great. Love the palm oil in the palmolive classic. I usually hold out on using the vintage clubman but I'm sure it's a special occasion somewhere. Have a great day gents. image.jpg

PRE: Hot Towel + MR GLO Soap + Homemade PSO
    BRUSH: Omega 636
    SOAP: Peppermint/Lavender MWF
    RAZOR: Merkur 38c
    BLADE: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
POST: Alum + Floid Blue Sample (indecisive lately!)

    SS_130723.jpg

The experiment with the MWF actually went pretty well. It still has MWF's great mild clean scent, but overtones of Lavender and Peppermint. It also has a slight, but noticeable cooling sensation from the Peppermint EO! Pleased!!! I decided to crack open my Floid Blue sample from WCS as well. Almost wish I wouldn't have...Great stuff, now I want some! Have an amazing day all!

Great shave this morning. My wife and I are waiting for the results of some tests and going for another round of CT scans Monday to determine what to do. Life is a waiting game I suppose. All we can do now is hang loose.

    Late Wodin's Day morning:
    image.jpg
    Razor: Bakelite Merkur
    Blade: 7:00 yellow
    Brush: Semogue boar
    Soap: The Mighty TABAC
Aftershave: Aqua Velva of the lighter blue variety

Delightful shave. That big floppy brush fills the bathroom with lather. The bakelite Merkur, while not so easy as my slant, is just fun. 7:00 yellow remains a very good blade for me.

Two days off with nothing to do but mow the lawn and play with the kids!

I couldn't get that cream to lather! What's your trick?

  16. HolyRollah

    HolyRollah BaconLord

Maybe the dab of glycerin? I really didn't have to fight too hard for the cream to start forming a pretty lush lather.
About a minute or so of constant whipping, plus a few drops of water, produced the rather prodigious amount in the scuttle.

One of my favorite soaps is Van Der Hagen Deluxe melted and mixed with Van Der Hagen Glycerin. The combination creates a great smelling, slick soap with excellent skin care abilities. I like to put my mixture into a nice Kingsley dark wood bowl to jazz it up a bit and to give it the respect that it so rightly deserves. For the low cost of $3.50 for 5oz. of soap and $6.50 for the bowl I get an amazing soap in an amazing container. Sadly, I haven't been able to use this soap much lately because I've been on a soft soap kick, but today I pulled out my VDH Deluxe/Glycerin blend and took it for a spin.

I did my usual three pass wtg/atg/xtg shave followed by a cold water rinse and a splash of T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel. The AoS Fine Badger brush helped the VDH soap go crazy with thick, creamy lather that provided excellent protection and glide. The Gillette Old Type head sitting comfortably on a ball end Tech handle was the perfect choice to finish off my Personna Platinum blade. The blade is on shave #7, but still works well. I'm actually hesitant to let the Personna Platinum go, but I feel it beginning to tug, so following this shave it's time for something new. I managed a DFS with zero nicks. The blade caused a little minor irritation while shaving, but the witch hazel took care of that. A great shave with gear that really deserves more love.
