It shaves well for me but is to mild for me without the shims. My favorite head that is not open comb. I have only used it twice with the original handle. I don't think the vibrating feature does all that much for the shave. The floating rounded safety bar is quite nice though.

I usually use it with a different handle, I just thought I would give the vibrating another try.

It was made by Bob Farvour over at B&B. I just got it, really digging it myself and it looks way better in person.

But....I think when I get ready to buy a new brush. I'm going to try to get oscar11 make me one with the same materials in the handle style on the bottom of this page.

    TUESDAY
    New Cream to Try

    a. PRE: Hot shower, hot towel, home-made PSO
    b. RAZOR: 1930 Gillette Goodwill Long-Comb
    c. BLADE: Astra SP (day ??— first hand-strop ever)
    d. BRUSH: Omega 48 boar
    e. SOAP: Mem Olive cream, scuttle-warmed
    f. SHAVE: 3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) + touch up
    g. POST: Cold water wash & dry; Pinaud Clubman, Nivea balm

I wasn't sure how many (3 or 4?) uses the Astra had, so I tried hand-stropping for the 1st time.
The Mem shave cream is something special! Thick, creamy lather that was a breeze to whip up. Very luxurious feel, belies the very reasonable cost!
I'm glad I have 2 tubes as it will go quick! DFS+ with no sign of 'age' on the blade. A'stropping we will go!

    TSD wheat cream, unscented
    Mühle black fiber synthetic brush
    EJ DE89
Gillette super thin platinum (Viet Nam)
    CeraVe lotion

I've had some of the Super Thin blades around for a while, but today was the first time I ever used one. I did my normal three passes and got a satisfactory result, but it was not comfortable, a little rough. No nicks or irritation, though.

    Gillette NEW LC w/Polsilver SI
    Old Spice Original SC
    GT G4 Scuttle
    Semogue 820 Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Old Spice Classic ASL

The NEW's have to be one of the best razor designs, along with the Old Type, created by Gillette. To think they had it nailed back in the Thirties and todays razors are basically reproductions of this design (Cadet, FaTip, etc.) it is really disappointing that Gillette has gone away from this type of razor and went with the plastic cheese-graters they put out today. I guess it's all about the money. Luckily, there are a lot of these razors out there to be had refurbished and enjoyed.
Love the Old Spice shave products. I wish they had a longer staying power though.

Ahhhhhh, this was a real exchange - me with yours and you with mine. Tomorrow, I'm using the Lord cream/Barbon aftershave combination! ;) I think soon you'll need some more of the Lord also - the tubes are not big enough. 55 grams doesn't last so long. No problem to send it to you again! :)

Got the bay rum thing right this time, but I think I chose poorly. It's muggy here and I should have taken a menthol day. Oh well, that Krampert's is fantastic.

The blade is a feather, the Merkur is a 1904, the brush is boar.

    Pretty decent shave today.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root face wash, Alba Botanical Scrub.
    Brush: Oscar Grade A.
    Razor: '62 Slim.
    Blade: Personna Lab.
Cream: Palmolive Classic (first time use.)
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's Lavender WH, Barbon AS.

I love the Palmolive cream already. It lathers really well, has a pleasant scent, nice cushion, and good skincare. I love the Menthol version better, but this is still awesome too.

No argument from me on the capabilities of the old News! I do enjoy that razor. I picked my old New OC up for a song (dirt cheap & if you saw it, 'dirt' is what you'd think....rough condition).
But cleaned & refurbished, its a great razor. It's getting replated in chrome in the near future.
Gillette today can crank out a million plastic razors every hour at a cost of a fraction what a brass/nickel/plated razor would cost. Thing is, Gillette could introduce the all-new NEW in limited supply at a significant price-point comparable to the high-end DE razors on the market—and sell them out.

I attempted the first pass with a Rolls razor (1947) that I just received. It tugged a lot, so I set it aside and got out the Gillette NEW again. The ninth shave with this Shark blade. Two passes with no issues. What's with this blade? How far will it go? We shall see. Near BBS shave. I will attempt to get an edge back on the Rolls and perhaps give it another shot later.
