Hey, I haven't seen them ever. And honesty, who knows how long Tony's going to be kicking around for?
A couple of bright spots in the day yesterday... I took my TV-B-Gone to Target. It worked well, as I fled the electronics department I noticed the people with concentric circles on their shirts scratching their heads and saying, "Weird..." Then I went to Best Buy. I was a little worried I was going to get approached... they were very quick to notice something wasn't right, but I don't think they ever figured out what caused half their TVs to suddenly turn off. While I was their, I picked up a new Blu-ray from the same people who made The Triplets of Bellville. It's called The Illusionist, and it's based on a Jacque Tati' screenplay. I'm kind of excited about that. Anyway, here's hoping today is better than yesterday. I hope I got my Tuesday out of the way yesterday.
Somehow, I don't think you'll get a lot of sympathy from those of us that had to work today, but we'll pretend we do if it makes you feel better.
My day just got better. Found out we are hosting Elvis Costello at the theatre in November... Good Times.
I saw Elvis C back in 1979 on our college campus—on one of his earliest US tours. My roommate is/was a big fan. About 500 people crammed into the Student Union Coffee house, EC about 4 feet away on stage. good show....
Recap of our BIG church event from last Saturday night— nearly 1,000 folks attended a free BBQ dinner & movie night—many on our campus for the very first time. Many times I heard, "I didn't even know this church was here." Over 100 volunteers help pull off this wonderful event. Jumpy houses in place, guests still arriving on a beautiful NorCal August late afternoon. DJ playing music. Three large screens in place to show "The Lion King" at sundown. Hot times! Three blazing hot mesquite BBQs going, cooking 600 chicken thighs, 400 burger patties & 500 hot dogs! Cooked just the right amount with minimal leftovers! A hundred kids played in the Jumpy houses and petting zoo until dinnertime. Once the sun went down & the movie started, the 'behind-the-scenes' clean-up began. By midnight, everything was restored back in place, ready for 9:00am service the next morning. Many on staff are worn out, but what a fun event!
Awesome!!! If I ever get up north a little...I know where I'm headed! I do have some family in Rescue, Ca...
Hopefully today will be better than the last two. edit: 1 hour later--things don't seem to be looking up so far.
A good day today. I went to the archery range & shot fairly well. Plus, I sold something on eBay, the same day I listed it.
Yesterday I got a call from the CEO of the company my friend owns. He and my friend want me to come in first thing Tuesday morning so they can have a talk with me. I'm hoping the talk is a job offer! On top of that I am meeting with a headhunter today and I have another interview tomorrow afternoon. I really hope to get the first job as it would make my career due to the experience I would get, and it is honestly my dream job! I would be going in and creating change, policy, etc for future company growth. I'm really excited...so I hope I get it!
