It's been hard to keep up with these...Remind me to never have surgery again! I think everything is at least 2-3x more difficult after. Still...A great God on His throne and a fine shave...Who can complain? Have a great day all!

    Thursday AMs report (late).

    7 O'clock S/S (5 d)
    Vintage Merkur Slant
Frank Shaving Pur tech - Synth
    The Moos!
    Lucky Tiger A/S
    Pre de Provence balm

Well, well.......... Finally did a multi day shave with the same blade in the same razor for 5 FULL DAYS (quite an accomplishment for me!). The 7 o'clock (green) was perfect, for the full 5 days. In fact, the only reason I took it out was because it was starting to show signs of discoloration (light rust) on the surface. I KNOW I could have ran it for another day or 2, as it wasnt pulling at all and was still giving a smooth shave. Im happy with 5 days!

The Vintage Merkur slant is absolutely the BEST, most consistent shave I have ever had in my life. Seriously. It cant get any better (for me). And it was a Joy to run for 5 days straight. I hate short handled razors, and IF this thing only had a longer handle..........It would be 110% Perfect!
I'll overlook that. I'll have to see if my Merkur 39C slant can give this perfect of shave. Ive used it 5 or 6 times, but never consecutively and don't remember the shave being THAT memorable. Im sending out to have another vintage Merkur done in Rhodium because I want to be buried with this thing.

The Shark is still performing nicely. Close comfortable shave with no irritation. The Super Speed is a very forgiving razor. I think I will keep this razor/blade combination until I retire this Shark.

    Not bad, considering...

Pre: Shower, Nubian Heritage Black Soap for face wash, homemade shave oil
    Strop: Red Imp # 700
Razor: Australian Hollow Magnetic with French point
Scuttle: LadySea Creations in Tiger's Eye
    Brush: Waterford Crystal silvertip badger
Soap: Stirling Lemongrass and Cajeput (great scent, slick lather!)
Shave: 1 pass WTG, 1 pass XTG, ATG as touch up for DFS
Post: Alum, Oil of Olay toner, Shea Moisture ASB, raw shea butter

    One weeper

Something was a little "off" with this shave, though I couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe I wasn't in the mood like I thought I was. However it goes, when I realized I wasn't totally committed I stopped after the 2nd pass and did a touch up. The one weeper was due to a bump and I would have sliced it no matter what I was using. My face feels and looks good, my skin feels pretty good but it wasn't my best shave by a long shot. 2013-08-08 22.24.12.jpg

Man oh man oh man, what a great shave this was - it's warm and humid again here but the set-up I used is perfect for it, from the L'Oreal Men Expert facial wash to the Rubby Dubby Doo. I noticed something about the Shark blades - some of them are much smoother than others. Next week I plan to use a Rapira. ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

    Hot shower
    Semogue 1305
    Arko
    R-41
    Bic Chrome Plat (1)
    Cold water rag
    Myrsol Balsamic Water

    2-pass DFS+!

I found the Bic blade tucked away in a box of assorted blades. I forgot how nice they shave. The Myrsol Balsamic Water... Meh. I like the performance, hate the scent. I should have bought more Speick instead.

    Fri. AM Shave (finally!)

    7 O'clock green (1)
    Mergress XL
    Proraso White
    Semogue 830
    Proraso A/S
    Pre de Provence balm

Rough beginning to the shave as I started with a soap that lathered well, but had no Lubrication! AHHHH! Had to quickly switch gears, rinse and run to the closet for the proraso (which is foolproof!). Finished off fine but I hate finding out a soap doesn't have enough lube, or your blade is spent! Especially after Lathering up..... No problems today. Its Friday!!!!

This morning I reached for a tub of TOBS Avacado cream that I received in a PIF. The scent is great, fresh, "outdoorsie". It does not smell like quacamole though. It lathered up a rich slick lather in no time using my "new" Chesterfield/Carrington Synthetic brush. I went back to try my new Maggard MR1 razor today sporting a Gillette Blue. I had one of my best shaves yet. The MR1 is more aggressive than my Super Speed and gave a closer shave.......or my technique is getting better, or more likely both. I finished with my new bottle of Krampert's Frostbite (which I must say is very well named!) FYI-If you get some Frostbite from Brian, READ the instructions. Yes, it comes with instructions. I am glad I did. I will make a post on it in Aftershaves.

    Friday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41C 1904 OC
    Blade: Derby (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water splash, Alum, cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB

First shave with the highly divisive Derby. I got a DFS out of it without irritation, but matching weepers on both sides of my throat, including one disturbingly close to the vein. I took extra time loading up the brush today to try to get enough lather, to no avail. As has become the norm, the lather was collapsing on me part way through the XTG pass, and I needed more product for the ATG.
