Our beloved Shave Den has had some issues over the last 24 hours, which means that some posts have had to wait. No one has yet had a chance to start the new SoS for this week, so I guess I'll do it.

Today I felt like experimenting, so I made an interesting superlather for my shave. I combined some Pyrate Cove Coconut soap and TBS Maca Root cream which resulted in a slick, creamy, awesome smelling lather. It's a nice earthy, sweet smelling lather that I really like.

A three pass wtg/xtg/atg shave using my Muhle/TGN synthetic brush to apply the lather and my Parker SRW with a Merkur Super blade to take it off resulted in a DFS with zero nicks and zero irritation. I completed the shave with a cold water rinse and some T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel. A great shave to start the week with...even if it didn't involve menthol.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
    Razor: Parker SRW
    Blade: Merkur Super
    Brush: Muhle/The Golden Nib synthetic
Soap: Superlather of Pyrate Cove Coconut and The Body Shop Maca Root
Post: Cold water rinse and T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel

    Menthol Monday:

    This morning's shave,

L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed with new Rapira
Gillette Menthol SC :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
Anherb AS Conditioner :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Barbon AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Dolce & Gabbana EDT

What a nice shave this was - one thing I'll say is that the Rapira blades perform so well for me. The European version of Gillette Menthol cream smells a lot nicer than its Lebanese counterpart and gives equally rich lather and cools just as strongly. I wish this fine cream hadn't been discontinued because it's really excellent. I still have a back-up tube which I bought from Fendrihan's last year. The Anherb conditioner and Barbon aftershave added plenty of extra iciness and soothing. Sorry, I'm posting from my laptop so no pics. ;) :D

    MONDAY!
    Beautiful Summer day!

    a. Pre: Hot shower, Lucky Tiger Lemon wash, Homemade PSO
    b. Razor: Merkur 38c HD Barber Pole
    c. Blade: Merkur Super (Day 8) hand-strop
    d. Brush: Omega 48 boar
    e. Soap: Pacific Shaving Co. cream & liquid Glycerinscuttle-warmed
    f. Shave: 4 passes and touch-up
    g. Post: Cold water rinse & dry; 4711 AS & Nivea balm

This was DAY 8 with the same Merkur blade. I had another smooth, comfortable shave but I'm beginning to feel some resistance on the shave.
We'll see if I can squeeze another day on this blade. No cuts, no irritation, no weepers....just a DFS+!
The Pacific Shaving Cream is truly wonderful stuff. Inexpensive but produces a very rich, dense lather with a nice fragrance!

Trig doesn't get a whole lot of love - or even discussion - but this was easily my closest most comfortable shave to date.

    Glad that TSD is back.

Another fine shave with the Shark blade. This was the twentieth shave with this one blade. I am going to set this blade aside for a while and use a new blade and change razors for a change. Then, I will load up this blade again and see how it drives. I have been satisfied with all the shaves from this blade, but I am getting bored. Need change.

Shumate Peacemaker razor (freshly honed from Larry at Whipped dog)
    Rooney badger hair brush
    Erasmic soap
    TSD aftershave milk (bay rum)

Tried face lather tonight, worked ok, but I think I will stick with bowl lather, thicker lather for me.

How do like the TSD bay rum milk?
I almost ordered some before the great crash of '13 (a few nights ago)...

Its soothing, the bay rum smell isn't quite what I consider bay rum but overall it is a good aftershave. Alcohol ones are hard on my skin.

Hey guys, did you miss me? ;) I sure missed the fine folks here.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root Face Wash, Alba Botanical Scrub.
    Brush: Vulfix Burlington.
    Razor: W&B 4/8".
    Cream: TBS Maca Root.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's WH Lavender, Krampert's Frostbite.

I had a good shave, but I think my straight needs honed. I'll send it off this time, so that way I don't mess it up. I still had a DFS and got a full straight shave regardless. The TBS cream is a great product. It's incredibly slick and gives a lot of cushion. It's real versatile too. You can use it without a brush just fine if need be. The Krampert's Frostbite froze my face too. I just love it. It's definitely pushing everything else to the backseat.

The Tour De Mike's: Week 1 - Day One

    MikesCedarwoodPine.jpg
Day 1 conclusion: I was probably most pleased with the scent and the slickness from this soap today. There was a little left to be desired on the density side, with cushion and protection coming in a little behind the products that are known for this (MWF/Tabac). But, then again, look at the lineup I am comparing this with (MWF/Tabac)! Looking forward to seeing how it performs tomorrow, now that I have had my first experience with this soap.

    Pre-shave:
Proraso Green Soap: Mike's Natural Soaps - Lime
    Brush: Semogue SOC Cerda Cherry
    Razor: Edwin Jagger Barley DE89BA11
    Blade: Gillette Azul Aço Inox
    Aftershave: Bozzano Mentolada
    [IMG]

This session went very well. Full BBS.
I tried this set that was offered to me by a friend from other forum. This soap Mike's is just fabulous, which in 30s to load the brush, it provided abundant foam for shaving the entire session without feeling a hint of dryness. A true must have for every one of us. I was also very impressed with these Gillette Stainless Steel. Cut sharp, very precise and clean, without traces of irritation and blood spots. And Bozzano closed the session with a very cool way.
    Good week for everyone.
