With autumn almost here we need to focus on keeping warmer except for one day called,

    Menthol Monday:

Here's my set-up for that special day!

L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
    #6 Horsehair
    Super Speed/new Shark
Iced Subzero SS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Diana Sport Menthol Balm :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Osage Rub AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Polo Original EDT

It just doesn't and can't get any colder than this because JoAnna's precious ISZ soap is about the coldest shaving product known to mankind. Follow up with the Diana Sport balm and the Rubby Dubby Doo and even if it's 100 degrees outside, you'll feel chilled and comfortable. This will be a shave from Paradise! ;) :D

    Monday

Prep: Hot shower, Dirigo Blue Cedarwood PSO, hand strop blade
Coffee: Maxwell House Master Blend, BLACK
    CD: Petra ~ Rock Block
Soap: Williams + 3 drops TSD M Bomb
    Brush: The Dridecker
    DE: Aristocrat
Blade: ASR Platinum Chrome, day 1, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Osage Rub, B&BW Oak, hand strop blade
    'Stache Wax: Dirigo Blue

Darn near BBS. The Williams whipped up pretty decent, but then decided to perform it disappearing act once I got it on my face. A little more detail about my escapades with the Williams over in the Williams Week thread. Still can't stand the smell.

    Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: VDH Unscented
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Astra (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum, cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

I nearly caught the baby today. . . and paid for it. While the Astra seems to have smoothed out ever so slightly from day 1, it still felt 'dry' on my face, produced weepers around my mouth, and my face burns enough to have me investigating menthol shaving soaps. Don't expect I'll be using it for day 3.

    Soap: Old Spice Cream

    Blade: Personna Med Prep
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

It was Old Spice Monday to start the work week. 2nd shave with the Old Spice cream. It gets the job done. Day two with a Personna Med Prep blade in the MR1. Another great shave as expected, nick and burn free. I finished up with some P&G Old Spice aftershave and deodorant.

    Hi, ho, hi, ho........etc.

Shave of the Day, Monday September 16, 2013
Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, tepid shower
Razor: Mühle R41 paired to Maggard MR3 Thick Handle
    Blade: Treet Platinum Stainless Steel
Brush: Shavemac Limited Edition Shaving Brush 90 with High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Fan Knot designed by Geoff Anderson
    Soap: Martin de Candre
    Splash: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve
Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave
    [IMG]
Although I like to mix handles with various heads, I find that this handle best suits my needs with the R41. I may end up ordering another MR3 just for the handle to keep paired with this one permanently.

The Treet Platinum blade paired very well with the R41. No blood, no irritation, and no raw feeling. I wish that every shave was this easy.

I hope that everyone has a great Monday.

    Monday

    Clear essentials unscented glycerin soap
    Queen Charlotte unscented soap
    HIS synthetic brush
    Gillette fat-handled Tech frankenrazor
Feather blade, day 2, palm stropped
    Cerave lotion

Haven't used the Queen Charlotte soap for a while. It made an excellent, thick slick lather.

I like my pre-war fat-handled Tech better than the ball-end Tech because of the bigger handle and the polished head. My ball end Tech (1953) has the Gillette logo etched on the head. The newer Tech is milder. The only substantial difference I can see between the two is the design of the base plate. On the newer Tech the baseplate has a smaller gap.

So today I paired up the fat-handled Tech with the milder base plate and a sharp Feather blade. Result was an excellent, close smooth shave. Very comfortable. I shall try this pairing again!

Not much to shave this morning after using the Joseph Rodgers Wedge yesterday. I got such a BBS shave from the Rodgers there really isn't a lot of stubble this morning. I picked up this Barlow at a local antique store. (junk shop) It's vintage but it cleaned up very nice. The estimated date on it is 1836 so it's in very nice shape for it's age. It's the only true wedge I have. (perfect triangular shape) Most of my other wedges have a slight grind to them. At any rate, it's a great piece.

I've been feeling nostalgic for my old
daily shaver, a Gillette Sensor. I also recently acquired two vintage Gillette sensors from the early '90s, two limited edition models (hopefully will receive soon). The sensor was my original go-to daily shaver. A lot of memories with this shaver. Aces!

Balea proves to be a good performer as expected, the Elios blades are similar in feel to the Bolzano (at first) but they always tend to be more harsh as the shave goes on, not as smooth, though sharp enough.

(I posted this in the wrong thread , but there, all fixed now :D )

    Monday 16.09.2013

    Good Evening.
Today was dedicated to samples, and since my favourite scent is from a sample of Fitjars Slaateroy cream I was looking forward to this. I was also looking forward to get reacquainted with my AoS travel sized badger brush. I do remember me being quite impressed by this little brush, but I have not used it in almost a year and have more or less forgotten all about it.
Last but not least, I was excited about trying an "older" blade, the Gillette Stainless. Never heard about this before, but from what I have read it is supposed to be a pretty good blade.

However, I should have known something was amiss when I opened the cream sample. The content was ruined and was nothing more than a hard lump. I did manage to pry loose some of it, and whipped up what looked to be a decent lather. But, alas it was not. It was thin, sickly and of poor quality.

The brush was also a bit of a disappointment. It was loose and floppy. No backbone and integrity. Good at making lather, but not good at applying said lather to the face.

The blade felt pretty good. Sharp and smooth, but the result was far from close. After two passes, I still had more stubble than I ought to have. I would not even call it a CCS. But it will have to do.
I will give the blade another shot tomorrow. Good Night

Pre: hot towel, Proraso green pre/post
    Brush: Parker synthetic
    Razor: Merkur 37c slant bar
    Blade: feather (1)
    Soap: Tabac
    Post: cold water, alum block
    AS: Proraso green lotion
    EDT: tabac

DFS: second day with slant was much, much better. Smooth, much less burn, one weeper. I took my time and held no pressure this time, but it still took four passes. So far, the bar is not much different than my Merkur classic 33c... I'll assume for now that my shaves will improve as my technique improves.

I'm not sold on the alum block, either. It stops weepers, but not much better than styptic, and it leaves my face feeling tight. I'll stick with it for a while and reevaluate later. Perhaps I should just use it on weepers, and not the rest of my face.

I learned that the hair on my neck grows in a curve from the bottom towards my chin, instead of straight from ear to chin as I thought. [IMG]
