I continue to experiment with face-lathering today with great success. The new Schick M, set on 6, performed flawlessly. Two passes and touch ups on the neck resulted in a BBS shave. I never dreamed I would be looking forward to a daily shave, but here I am.

God bless the survivors and those family members of those killed and wounded in the Navy Yard shooting.

Wow, seeing that razor brings back memories—and not all that favorable! ;)
In all honesty, the Sensor was one of those cartridge shavers that didn't maul my face like some of the earlier Atra models. I used the Sensor & Sensor Excel for a good number of years in the 90's.

:happy088: The slant really shouldn't feel all that different from your other Merkur, although it will shave you close! When I switch between my merkur slant and non-slant (39c vs 38c), they both feel quite similar in my hand and with the shaving motion, but on my face I can feel the difference: smoother, closer with the slant. Often I can get by with only 2 passes on the slant; always 3 on the safety-bar razor.

Today I had my first shave with the CJB razor. I have been wanting to get my hands on this razor for a while now, so when the opportunity presented its self I jumped and bought a CJB along with 20 Feather Professional blades. when it came in this afternoon I was all smiles. I really like this razor, but mine has an issue. When I pinch the head the back half (toward the handle) opens nicely, but the front does not open properly. This makes loading/unloading a blade difficult. I noticed that the gap in the top is slightly uneven and I'm pretty sure this is causing the issue. I'm not sure if this is caused by an uneven spring or an improperly shaped head, but it is a serious annoyance. Other than that, I'm really pleased with this razor.

I started off with some Shave Secret as a preshave, lathered up GFT Almond cream with my mixed loft boar/badger brush, and did a two and a half pass (wtg/atg and xtg on my neck for clean up) shave using the CJB and a Feather Professional blade. I finished up with some SAL Alum and Simpson's After Shave Balm. The result was a DFS with zero nicks and mild irritation on my neck. I had the same issue that I always have with a straight razor: getting the proper angle to go atg on my neck. Other than that, the CJB was extremely easy to use. I like the weight and maneuverability, and in spite of the warnings I found the Feather blades to be no more dangerous than Fromm hair shaper blades (which I was surprised to discover are longer and heavier than Feather Professional blades). The Trumper Almond was slick and smelled great and the Simpson's ASB was an extremely nice finish. I look forward to getting to know this razor better.

Pre: Hot shower, warm water splash, and Shave Secret
    Razor: CJB
    Blade: Feather Professional
    Brush: Mixed loft boar/badger
Soap: Geo F. Trumper Almond cream
Post: Cold water rinse, SAL Alum, and Simpson's ASB

    MENTHOL MONDAY!!!!

    * Shower:

WOOOOO!! Menthol Monday is something I look forward to every week. I love freezing my face. Huge fan of the Proraso soap it produces a great lather and the feeling of it is top notch, especially when you rinse with cold water. When used with the Osage Rub its guaranteed to make your eyes water every time. I think I'll call this setup a "Tear Jerker Shave". Damn fine today.

Once again, a smashing success with my favorite DE and a hell of a good brush as well as a damn frigid cream. The scent of the Egyptian Palmolive Menthol has finally grown on me after so long and now I can say that I like it. The lather, menthol power, and skincare are first-rate exactly like the Italian version. The Visal gel and Aqua Velva made the end of this great shave wonderful with their iciness. ;) :D

Prep: Hot shower, Dirigo Blue Cedarwood PSO
Coffee: Maxwell House Master Blend, BLACK
CD: A Blues Biography ~ John Lee Hooker
Soap/Cream: Williams + KMF Cool Mint
    Brush: Omega 11574

Blade: ASR Platinum Chrome, day 2, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, Dickenson's WH, Brut Attitude, hand strop blade

The KMF helped some. Williams still tried to disappear during the shave.
I did wind up BBS, though. Those Lady Gillettes are fantastic razors.

    Tuesday-Hot Again-Menthol Required!

    Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
    Razor: Maggard MR1
    Blade: Personna Med Prep
    Brush: Omega 10066 Boar
    Aftershave: Krampert’s Frostbite

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

Back to the menthol of the MITA. I have almost finished with the puck. This is a great soap!! I will re-order the MITA for “My Menthol” and try another scent this time too. Day three with a Personna Med Prep blade in the MR1. Another great shave as expected, nick and burn free. I finished up with Krampert’s Frostbite to finish the “Cool Down”.

It is going to be 91 degrees F again here today…but maybe some rain!

Shave of the Day, Tuesday September 17, 2013
Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, tepid shower
Razor: Matador Toro Mastiff Corto, gold
Blade: Sputnik Stainless Steel with Teflon Coating
Brush: Vintage Stanley Home Products restored with TGN 22mm Fan High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Knot
    Soap: D.R. Harris Windsor
    AS: Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla
Post: Cold Water Rinse, double splash of aftershave
    [IMG]
The gold Toro Mastiff Corto did not disappoint. Paired with the Sputnik it provided an easy two pass shave that only required the smallest amount of touch-ups. I can honestly say that it provided a shave as close as the R41, which says a lot.

The Clubman Vanilla pairs well with the Windsor, nice combo. I just wished that the Vanilla lasted as long as the Original and Special Reserve.

    Have a great Tuesday everyone.

The Petal Pushers soap made an excellent lather with the big synthetic brush. New Personna blade in the injector gave a smooth comfortable shave in three passes plus touch up.

    Erasmic SC
    GT G4 Scuttle
    Semogue 820 Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    British Sterling Cologne

The Greaves wedge is a very nimble blade and has the ability to seek and destroy any nasty whisker where ever it hides. My face (neck actually) is smooth as silk!
The wedge was refurbished and rescaled by Undream (of Brad and Casi Maggerd Razor fame) about 4-5 years ago and is one of my "Special Straights". It's the only one that has it's very own case. The Erasmic felt wonderful this morning and the British Sterling Cologne is my most favorite finisher excluding Pashana of course.

Back to work day! 6:00am shave...

    a. PRE: Hot shower & towel-wrap; homemade citrus PSO
    b. RAZOR: 2011 Mühle R41
    c. BLADE: Feather Stainless (Day 2)
    d. BRUSH: Semogue 830
    e. LATHER: Tabac, Mem Olive cream, liquid glycerin; überlather scuttle-warmed
    f. SHAVE: 2 passes, plus touch up
    g. POST: Cold water rinse, alum block, Nivea Sensitive balm & Tabac Cologne

Day 2 of the Feather in the R41. No shave on Monday so this is the second consecutive day using the R41. Previously I've alternated with a milder 38c with the Mühle.
Two passes all that was required again to get BBS with no irritation nor weepers. More 'tugging' noticeable today on the feather.
Two days may be the max using Feathers with this razor. Ultra-smooth face and the Tabac cologne got a thumbs-up from the wife...:happy088:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, AoS PSO (last of the canister)
    Brush: Beeline Brush
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Treet Black Beauty (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: Burberry Brit for Men by Burberry

I decided to pamper my face a bit (nearly said "treat") with the extra prep, and a 2-pass-only carbon steel blade. As before, the carbon steel Treet gives me an audible feedback that is lacking, to my senses, with other blades I've tried. With only 2 passes, I can only classify the result as a DFS, however; the mini-vacation for my skin is probably worth it.
