    Thursday

    CeraVe foaming facial wash
    Razorock Boston Tea Party soap
    HIS synthetic brush
    Schick type I injector
    Personna blade
    CeraVe lotion

The Razorock soap always makes a thick slick lather. Face lathering today was pleasant and fun, with blobs of lather flinging around the sink and onto me. Luckily, none got onto Tooey, the shave cat!

Three passes followed by touch up around the mouth and chin.

It's a lovely fall-like day in Seattle today.

It was a Proraso day today...

Prep: Burt's Bees face wash, hot towel, Proraso Green Pre/Post
    Brush: Parker Synthetic
    Cream: Proraso Green
    Razor: Merkur 37c Slant
    Blade: Personna Platinum (1)
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, Proraso Green Lotion

DFS: I really love menthol! The Personna Platinum is better for me than Derby so far. Great shave today - better than yesterday. No burn or irritation, one weeper. I tried J-hook on my neck, and it worked well enough that I will try again tomorrow.

This is good advice. Too many new shavers come away with raw, irritated skin due to excessive face-scraping, trying to go for that sometimes elusive ultra-smooth jawline or cheek...

    GT G4 Scuttle
    Omega 31064 Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal ASL

Getting a good whiff of the Lilacs this morning. The Joseph Allen is a very "plain Jane" blade but, it always delivers a great performance.

I concur with Steve and Kevin's comments above. Even experienced wet shavers occasionally fall into the trap of chasing the baby every now and then. A good dose of burn let's a guy know to relax and back off the aggressive strokes. (Note: When you get into a battle with your razor......the razor always wins!) lol

    SOTD 09-19-13 Williams Week continued

    * Shower:
    • Soap: Irish Spring Original bar soap
    • Shampoo: Head & Shoulders with Old Spice scent

    * Shave:
    • Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash, Every Man Jack Signature Mint Face Scrub, Hot towel, Corn Huskers Lotion
    • Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar
    • Lather: Williams Mug Shave Soap
    • Razor: Dollar Shave Club Executive
    • Cartridge use: 5
    • Passes: WTG/ATG/Touch-up
    • Post: Warm water rinse, Cold water rinse, Alum Block, Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, Old Spice Aftershave

Day 2 of my late started Williams week. Better success today than yesterday. The lather today was better also it was more comfortable than yesterday. Granted, I only did 2 passes today because I wasn't particularly hairy today but my DSC Executive had no problem taking down my stubble. Not a bad shave today at all. I'm wondering however, if my success today was due to my use of Corn Huskers Lotion, I used it quite generously. I might actually omit the CHL tomorrow to see how much help it was. Also more successful today was my use of the alum block, it didn't burn nearly as bad as yesterday, I didn't rub it on my face as excessively as I did yesterday and I didn't feel the need to wash it off today. Finished up with a nice splash of Old Spice for a DFS today. Not bad at all today.

I know some don't like Williams, but I get great shaves with it. Today, I reached Williams in my rotation. I am continuing to face lather and the Parker Pure Badger did an excellent job. Two passes and touch ups on my neck made for a very nice shave. Near BBS. I am not chasing the baby, but I am getting great shaves with this Schick M adjustable. This was the sixth shave with this blade and the setting was maxed out at 8. Finished off with the classic Aqua Velva Ice Blue for a refreshing, manly smelling shave. Two shaves left in this rotation of creams/soaps, and I will go back to the GEM Clog-pruf.

First time I've used the Polsilver Super Iridium blade. I'm impressed.

Edit - not a cheap blade though, it looks like the best price I can find is $32 for 100.

I just can't go more than one day without menthol - for me it's impossible. The Proraso Green cream gave me its great lather and cooling sensation with perfect skincare, and the Svoboda balm and Barbon continued the freeze and soothing beautifully. After a shave like this I feel terrific. Now, off to work. ;) :D

Have a nice weekend, folks! :)
