I've got a bunch of Stirling pucks on their way to me, hoping they'll arrive tomorrow or Friday. Anise, Scots Pine, Lime, Black Cumin & Orange and a tester of a new Grapefruit Ginger clay-free soap he's testing out.
I just re-ordered my MITA (Margaritas in the Arctic) and also ordered a puck of Scots Pine too. Rod has a 50% off sale on some of his bath soaps so I HAD to order a couple. I got bars of Pig Trail and Ozark Mountain. As usual, Rod is great to deal with........... Bob
Wow...you ran through the MITA real fast! I finally got around to using mine. Really cold and great scent! Just curious how the lather compared with his other soaps for you. I found that this wasn't quite as stable as his other soaps. This tends to happen to me with menthol added items. Thoughts?
I shaved with Ben Franklin this morning (he looked pretty good for being dead almost 225 years. The manpris, didn't really work though. However, I digress...)..... same good performance and lather, but I got very little scent from it other than tallow. Maybe I need to get into the puck a bit more.
You are a brave man! "This soap smells like an older gentleman’s pantaloons at the end of a hot July day in Philadelphia, drafting important documents with no air conditioner." You just have to love a guy who starts off with that as a scent description!
So I've now tried Anise, Scots Pine and the Grapefruit Ginger. Really nice, "luxurious" lather and the Anise and Scots Pine scents are great. I know some say they have trouble lathering Stirling's soaps, but I am a newb at this (just about a month or so wet shaving experience) and I've not had problems. The Grapefruit Ginger, despite being clay-free, lathered up and felt just about the same as the others. The scent of it is very mild compared to the others, but it's a tester so I can't hold that against him. (And maybe it's by design, I dunno, but I was hoping for a big grapefruit scent to hit me over the head.) Also, the bang-for-the-buck here is amazing. Only $5/puck, and the pucks come in at over the promised 4 oz. My 5 pucks weighed in at almost 24 oz. total, as if I'd gotten a whole additional puck's worth free. And-- he threw in a bar of his bath soap as well.
Yesterday(Monday), I got the order I placed with Rod on Friday!! I ordered the Scots Pine Sheep and Margaritas in the Arctic shave soaps and bars of the Pig Trail and Ozark Mountain bath soaps. Rod also included 2 vary generous sample pucks of Coniferous and Tea Tree shave soaps! Thanks Rod! I shaved with the Scots Pine this morning. Like the MITA I have been using, the Scots Pine whipped up a great slick and cushioning lather....even in my ROCK HARD water here is south Texas. The scent is nice and fresh but not overpowering. Very nice nick and burn free shave! Bob Scots Pine Sheep
Rod will put together samples for you. Just PM or e-mail him. His sample pucks are very generous too......
