Last night we were sitting at the dinner table and I noticed a couple of hairs on my 16 year old son's chin. I pointed them out and proclaimed, "Tonight, we shave!" He quickly told me no because he is growing a beard!
At 16 facial hair is a treasured item and a proof of virility , manliness and all that other stuff that make you a man
As I may have mentioned in other threads, I am a proud father of 3 sons, ages 20-26—all whom sport FULL beards. The only time they shave is to do some manicuring on the throat area; two use a Fusion, my oldest a EJ DE89. Many of their friends all sport facial hair, a significant number with full beards. A well-manicured beard looks good on them, so I am at least thankful they've no tats, piercings or other in-vogue mutilat...err....alterations to the body.
Funny I had a beard and LOVED it till I was 22 and had had it in one form or another since I'd gotten out of high school.. Then I started my career and had to be clean shaven...That started 30+ miserable years of shaving with a Trac2 cart razor and of dreaming of the time when I would retire and "NEVER EVER" shave again!!!! Well about a year before retirement I got interested in "traditional" wet shaving through a co-worker and began my journey... Long story short I've been retired going on 3 years now and I shave "EVERY" day and I "LOVE" it... My point "attitudes change with time"...Who knows your son may start to shave "EVERYTHING" one day..
I've been able to grow a beard since sixth grade. My father and I ALWAYS fought about me growing facial hair (first he can't grow facial hair to save his life second he's an officer in the military)! Anyways I enjoy shaving due to the me time I get from it. Trust me in college my shaving time is a gift from the gods. Anyways he'll come around when it gets itchy!
Thats what my dad told me in 7th grade as a reason not to start shaving so early. I nearly shaved my lip raw trying to get a decent stash.
Hahaha there is nothing to envy, I haven't shaved for about 3 weeks now and I have nasty looking mutton chops and chin hair and a porn star mustache, none of them connect to each other
Believe me, there's no way he will have a full beard before he is 21. Although I had to shave daily by the time I was 20, it was mostly my chin. I couldn't grow a full beard until I was probably 25 or so. My son will probably be the same.
Hahaha at this point anything goes, I'm just gonna get a fake beard from a halloween store and wear that, they're probably half off right about now
