Very very nice. I would like to know how you like the Noxzema...I only have the canned version from italy...
Inspired from @dcc with his Gillette New, i bought a Vintage 1930's Gillette New long Handle. Hope he is as nice as shown on the pictures. I will report. So stay tuned...
I just got back from the Post Office. I had ordered some of the new Stirling Glacial and Stirling Spice (think Old Spice) shave soap along with a bar of the Spice bath soap. Rod also included samples of Ozark Mountain and Lavender Sage shave soap pucks and a sample bar of Barbershop bath soap! I also received my first bottle of Proraso Green aftershave.
Ala ayni w'ala rassi wa ma kullu hobna min qalbi. Enta ta'amour! (In the Middle East, this is said when somebody thanks you for a gift. This means, "on my eyes and on my head and with all the love from my heart. My pleasure!" "Enta ta'amour literally means, "you command me.") Mein lieber, nach meiner Meinung gibt es keine bessere Creme als der Noxzema. Der Geruch ist so angenehm und "old-school" und der Schaum ist so reich und leicht zu schlagen, und die Hautpflege ist fantastisch. Das ist die Verkörperung der äußersten Creme. Ich kann nicht verstehen, warum es unterbrochen wurde. Trans. My dear friend, in my opinion there's no better cream than the Noxzema. The scent is so pleasant and "old-school" and the lather is so rich and easy to whip up. This is the embodiment of the ultimate cream. I cannot understand why it was discontinued.
@Crackstar: is there a chance to get a tube of the Noxzema anywhere?! Don't know if my canned Noxzema is the same formula...
Bought me a bottle of Jeris Musk. Love the scent. Found it in the barbershop 'Schorem' (scumbags) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. When you visit Rotterdam, go and see! (Sorry ladies, only men allowed...) They're old school barbers (check out their website: schorembarbier.nl)
Unfortunately not my friend. The company was taken over by Procter & Gamble, and they decided to stop producing any traditional wetshaving creams. I cannot believe how they can be so inconsiderate.
With a name like that, it just begs to be seen. Now if only I could convince Limecat to go over again and let me come with him.
I'll be sure to let you know if it ever happens. The Penginators had such a good time when they went over, I know I missed out.
I've got two of those sharpeners. It's easy to over hone the blade. They were made for the original 3 hole Gillette blades, which are much thicker than modern blades. I've gotten great results and piss poor results using the 5 sec sharpener. YMMV.
I haven't seen one of those sharpeners before, it looks pretty nice. Do you have any other photos of it?
First, I got the PIF shipment from KLF, I've onlys used the MEM with Allantoin so far, it's excellent. These are all Israeli creams, now I'll have to decide if I'm going with Israel, England or Italy on Country Week. I have Israeli blades but I have brushes from Italy and England, as well as an English razor. The second is a rubber stamp holder. There were two of these on eBay at the same time, I bid $14.95 on each hoping I'd get one, and I got them both. The 2nd one just shipped so I haven't seen it yet. The third is D.R. Harris MArlborough - a very nice soap. The puck was shaped to fit a wooden bowl and just a little oversized at the top for an Old Spice mug, but I just trimmed a little off the perimeter.
I finally acquired some goodies that will possibly do several things: • Expand the amount of my shaving stuff I now own (likely) • Cause me to sell some my DE razors & stuff (a possibility) • Send me to the ER (prayerfully not!) My first Straight Razor: Strop: Norton 4k/8k waterstone & a DMT Diamond 325 whetstone: A Chinese 12k wet/polishing Stone: All were acquired 'previously-owned' (except the C12k stone), so my initial investment into this realm is relatively minor.
