I picked up the '62 Gillette Slim again today. I will be using it for the next ten days or so. The Frank Shaving badger did an excellent job face-lathering Col. Conk's lime shave soap. This was the third shave with the Wilkinson Sword blade, and it did a great job with two passes and some touch-ups. I finished off with the Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. I'm feeling clean, smooth, and refreshed.​

 

Menthol Monday for this guy... well sort of. I'm waiting on my Barbon AS to arrive and then I'll have a full menthol day.

Prep: hot shower, L'Oreal Face Wash, TBS Maca Root Face Scrub.
Brush: Turkish #6 brush.
Razor: Schick Krona.
Blade: Personna Lab.
Cream: Arko Ice Mint (first time use- one of the creams Jeff sent to me.)
Post: cold water rinse, C.C. Bay Rum.

I got a little careless and gave myself a tiny nick on my neck. I almost didn't see it until I looked closely when I was checking for missed stubble. I think I opened up an old ingrown hair. It was nothing serious and healed up as soon as I splashed some cold water on it. The C.C. Bay Rum sealed it up and disinfected it too. I find myself reaching for that for every shave. Its skincare is top notch. I need to place special mention to the Schick Krona. It is my second favorite razor that I own (after my Gillette Slim) and it has never failed me. I like my Krona better than Techs and Super Speeds too. I don't regret buying this razor at all. The Arko Ice Mint is a pretty good cream too. If you have used Arko creams before, you are familiar with the lather, cushion, and slickness. The Ice Mint carries all of those qualities along with a pleasant cooling effect. For my most recent shaves, I have been using stuff that Jeff (crackstar) has sent me.

I was thinking of my dear friend Dmitry this morning so I decided to take a nice shave on a Russian note. The Tet-a-tet cream has a beautiful classy scent with fabulous lather which is so easy to work up and its cooling effect and skincare are excellent. Its matching aftershave balm has that same scent and is even more strongly-mentholated and very soothing. The Aqua Velva felt so good and frigid.

Been traveling a lot the last week or so using cartridges. I am so glad to be back to my normal rigs. Huge diff in shave quality. The bright side was I was able to pick up some bottles of Superior 70 (my last leg was in San Juan). This stuff is getting much harder to get.

Great shave today! I missed yesterday's shave so I had two days of growth to clean up. The Astra was up to the challenge. No nicks or irritation, in fact I could hardly tell I used the alum. I had ample lather, enough for all three passes with a little to spare.

Really like the Astra blade so far.

I used my Merkur 39c for the first time this morning. This was my first time ever using a slant. I got a DFS, but the jury is still out as to whether or not it is any better than the EJ DE89L. I still need to work on my technique with the 39c as it is a little different than the DE89L. The 39c got extremely close in some areas, but I had a little trouble in my usual problem areas under my jaw and had to do a little buffing. I don't know if the 39c lived up to all the hype about how great slant razors are, but then again, I have been consistently getting BBS shaves with the DE89L.

My face feels wonderful, with the brand new blade in my razor. Two passes got me to a DFS, though I managed, perchance, to pop a proto-pimple on my upper lip; this was the only irritation of any kind for this morning's shave.

1st shave with the Israeli Personna SP Crystal in the Slim. I tried the Cella again today. It lathers on auto-pilot. Makes me want an almond croissant though! The Crystal did well. I got a good close shave with one nick (user error) just under my moustache on the right side of my mouth. I finished off with Clubman today to stay “Old School” this morning.

I always find the Futur an easy razor with which to get comfortable, close shaves—even at the more aggressive settings. Dialed it back to a milder blade exposure (2). I'm getting pretty good at this one-hand shaving business! DFS!

Excellent shave! Smooth, comfortable, and close. Usually, I don't go past day 4 on any blade, but this Astra blade was feeling great yesterday on day 4 so I palm stropped this nothing and gave it another day. It felt great. Three passes, some touch up, and I'm good to go!

 

No shave today, got called into work at 4:30 A.M.
