Hey, did you win that on eBay? That looks a lot like one that I bid on a few days ago Congrats; they are great shavers.
Yeah, I got it on a best offer deal. probably paid a little too much, but I wanted it so I paid what is it worth.
If yours is the one that I was watching, you didn't pay too much for it in my opinion. I did not bid much on it because I already have one, but I would like to have another one at the right (low) price. Mine is fairly aggressive, but it is one of my favorites.
Hi Friends, i received my "Gillette New" today. It´s high polished and i think the colour is named "rosegold". An extraordinary colour... Once a day,i think i will sent it to Razor Emporium to get it Rhodium plated.I like Silver much more than Gold (or Rosegold). But let´s see...maybe i will have it stay like this...No cracks or anthing...seems to be as this razor hasn´t been used before. Wow. It came in this very nice Bag. I will give this razor a go in the next minutes...my moustache area needs to be shaved... Let´s see if this thing is gentle (like Gillette always is),or if it is something aggressive because of the open comb...I think it won´t be comparable with the R41,but the blade exposure is very nice.A good middle thing between very gentle and too aggressive. So,now i have to shave a bit...see you guys later. Greetings Thorsten
I'm happy to report my newly acquired Gillette Fat Boy Adjustable should come today in the mail, I can't wait to use it!!!
I hope I'm not breaking any Forum rules, but here's my Simpsons P8 Phyl TSN LE brush: Definitely one of the most beautiful brushes I own.
It is a nice fat boy. Pretty BIG difference in price for the red dots vs non. If the seller sold it as a Red Dot ($$), he was mistaken. Ebay has countless FatBoys listed as 'red dots'—the vast majority are not. Red dot (on the left) vs regular FB:
Here's the Robeson straight I picked up several weeks ago along with the Frog that I picked up last Saturday. Dropped them both at Maggard Razors and I should have them back next week after a light restoration. You can see more pics at http://www.maggardrazors.com/index.php/gallery/original-restores-gallery/?album=26&gallery=453 if you're interested. I would have waited until I received them but these photos are way better than I could take with my phone.
I stopped by a few antique malls in Pigeon Forge, TN this week and found a 1951 Gillette Black Tip (W 4) and a can of Avon Talc For Men (almost full). I'm really becoming a fan of talc; good stuff. My father and I are working on a homemade shaving cabinet, but I've been looking for a temporary way to store my razors in the meantime. I found a CD rack in a thrift store the other day, and realized that when turned upside down it would make a great razor rack. Here's my 3 dollar solution:
I just received this beautiful GEM Micromatic Bullet-tip from a trade with richgem. This is a nice addition to my GEM collection. I am looking forward to putting it through the paces. Thank you Richard. PS The Bullet-tip was made 1947-48, so this may even be my birth year razor (1947). Pretty cool.
