    Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger :love055:
    Soap: Speick Cream
Razor: FaTip Piccolo - Nickel :love055:
    Blade: Vohksod Teflon (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Speick AS Splash

With all the new variables introduced in today's shave (new brush, cream (first ever cream for me), razor, splash), it was practically like starting from scratch all over again. Lathering with the 56 was a breeze. I found the right angle immediately, and was extremely mindful of the amount of pressure I was using, since the FaTip's longer combs and greater blade exposure give it a reputation as a more aggressive shaver than the 41c. I still caught that same old spot on my Adam's Apple (still taking signatures to make the "Apple Patch" the hot new facial hair trend of 2014), but otherwise got a DFS in two passes, with the weeper on my Adam's Apple and yesterday's 3 passes both contributing to my decision to stop at 2 passes today.

Reposted now that I'm awake enough to remember that Monday might just indicate a new week here at TSD. :signs081:

DFS. I didn't have too much stubble today because if the extra close shave yesterday, so I did two passes WTG, ATG and a little touch up on my neck. Nice, easy shave. Good thing, since I have not completely slept off the alka seltzer from last night.

    Have a great Monday!

Today was a first shave with my new Ever-Ready 1914. The TOBS Lavender face-lathered well with the Frank Shaving finest badger brush. There is a lot of blade exposure with this Ever-Ready, and it did sing. I took it easy, and ended up with a near BBS shave with two passes and a little clean-up on the neck area. Finished off with the Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. Feeling clean and refreshed.

    Tuesday:

Prep: Healthy Accents Daily Renewal Cleanser, Hot shower, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Cream: Speick
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH (not pictured), Speick AS Lotion

First, a big thanks to my SO for taking the pic so that I could show off my new razor and brush, along with some of my other tools. Three passes produced a wonderful BBS, with some minor irritation at the corners of my mouth on the ATG pass. The weeper on my Adam's Apple opened right back up this morning, but I just ignored it. The Speick cream has a medicinal scent that is taking a little getting used to, and the amount of water it wants indicates to me that my soap lathers may still be a little on the dry side, if what folks say about creams needing less water is true. The Speick aftershave is outstanding stuff with a pleasant lavender scent, which surprisingly didn't produce any burn this morning, in contrast to yesterday.

Although not nearly as intensely-cold as the Stirling Glacial soap which I used yesterday this Gillette Menthol cream from Europe delivers a fantastic menthol effect with a nice scent, great lather, and a lot of skincare. I'll soon have to try to figure out a way to get some more Anherb conditioner because this bottle is more than half finished. Thank goodness, I could get Aqua Velva anywhere - it's a big favourite of mine. What a great shave! ;) :D

    Blade: Polsilver SI (2)
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Cream
    Cologne: Canoe

I decided to substitute Cetaphil Cream this morning for my usual PSO and Nivea PSB. I really like the results. This was the smoothest shave I've have in a while and my skin feels great. Finished with a terrific shave.

    Have a great day!

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Spice Bath Soap
    Soap: Barbon Cream
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim “6”
    Blade: SuperMax Titanium (4)
Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip Badger 22x48
    Aftershave: Barbon

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

4th shave with the SuperMax Titanium in the Slim. I used Barbon cream today from Hungary. It has a light green color and a light, refreshing scent. The Barbon gives a good easy, slick lather. I had a good close shave on my 4th day with the SuperMax Titanium. There where one or two minor tugs under my chin, but no nicks or burn. I finished with a nice menthol hit from the Barbon aftershave.

Good shave today. I know it's shave cream week, but I almost exclusively use cream and wanted to work on my soap lathering. I am pleased with the results. I was able to get a nice lather with out too much effort, and probably could have done a fourth pass with the left over.
I don't get as smooth a shave when I skip the ATG pass, but there is also zero irritation or cuts. It's also not a bad shave either, I could probably clean it up with buffing...

    Tuesday:
    hot shower
    Maggard Eucalyptus PSO
Gillette Tech Fat Handle 3 passes
    Feather Hi Stainless Platinum (2)
    VDH boar
T & H Ultimate Comfort cream (sample) in a warm mug
T & H Ultimate Comfort AS balm (sample)
    Royall Muske cologne

After yesterday's lackluster performance I had enough stubble for a shave today and true to form I tried some new things. I've got 4 gold (or at least gold colored) razors and I've never shaved with any of them so I'm trying to decide which to use the week of Christmas with my recently purchased Frankincense and Myrhh shave soap. One is a ball end Tech and it's the same year as an identical chrome one I've got and used a couple times so I'm not expecting it to shave any different. Two Gems, a Micromatic and a Pushbutton (that I failed with yesterday), and today's '46-'50 Fat Handle Tech which is in extremely good original condition. I was hoping it might be a bit more aggressive than the ball Tech since it's a little older but it didn't seem much different. Very mild and probably a razor I'll never nick myself with. I will say what the techs seem to lack in aggressiveness they make up for in curvature of the head. The geometry is excellent and I'm able to glide the razor effortlessly at a proper angle over every area of my face. I just wish they had a little more bite.
The Ultimate Comfort cream is a little different than T&H's regular creams. I warmed up an oversized wide mouth coffee mug so I could whip the lather without getting it all over the place (my scuttle is a bit small so I always have to whip very carefully) and my vigorous swirls produced an explosion of lather. A little bit thinner than the regular T&H and unscented but plenty of slickery. Apparently the ultimate comfort part refers to sensitive skin not feelings of sadness but I usually wake up happy so it doesn't matter. The AS balm was very soothing but also unscented hence a few spritzes of Royall Muske.

Cetaphil is an awesome facial cleanser. The skin feels so slick after it's rinsed.
