OK, now that I have your attention I have no conclusive proof, but.....

I started this adventure 10/1/13. Only change in my lifestyle. No new exercise, no diet changes, no new clothes. Same old, same old. For the past couple of weeks or so I have been getting lots of compliments ... you look thinner (no, I put on 10 lbs), you look younger, have you changed your hair (same barber/cut as the last 20 years).

I took a good look in the mirror this a.m. and I do appear to be younger. My face is smoother, has better color and shine and my chubby cheeks are not as pronounced looking. Hmmm. I think the closer shave combined with the 8 week effect of mostly Mitchell's Wool Fat + Musgo Real Balsam balm is having a positivie effect. Or may be everyone that comments is wrong and I'm seeing what I want in the mirror. :Animatedfrozensmily: Either way, I'm enjoying the comments as well as the shaves.

My wife has told me this is true since I started traditional wet shaving. I used to wet shave with a Fusion and Edge gel. So I don't think it's just wet shaving. I think a quality soap, brush, and single blade make a difference over carts and canned goo too.

Well, obviously we all need to go out and purchase a lot more wet shaving products for ourselves!

It is "Good For You"! Al said so!!

Makes total sense to me! :D

I have noticed my face looking better......LOL since I started wet shaving! I do believe it is because of all the quality products I am putting on it. I definitely enjoy my shaves more!!

Shhhh! Don't talk about it. If the women find out, there'll be no shaving products left for us!

But, I'm sure that less skin irritation and more moisturizing go a long way toward one's skin looking younger / healthier.

Somewhat related, I remember when I first started wet shaving, my little niece told me you've got Fred Flintstone face. Apparently, my stubble took on a blueish hue when it started to grow out during my transition period.

Absolutely true! Check out these before and after pictures of me. I know the difference is subtle, but I think you can see that I look a little younger now.

I also now remember having read a while back that men tend to get fewer facial wrinkles than women. The theory was that shaving provides better exfoliation (sp) than beauty creams. I'm not sure if they studied my great aunts... a few of them should have shaved.

It might be a Firefox issue, but those pics appear to have posted in the wrong order. :p

Shaving with a DE or straight razor does exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. Since many do this (shave) daily, the skin regenerates new skin cells to replace those lost during the shaving process. With more aggressive, ultra-close DE shaves and straight razor shaving, the exfoliation extent is greater, and eventually after repeated 'injury' and regeneration, the skin will begin to look and feel smoother. You'll get that silky, shiny appearance that may have not existed in your 'cartridge shaving' days. So the 'superficial skin trauma' inflicted by the razor's edge actually seems to benefit the faces of those willing to wet-shave. The skin looks healthier, tighter (less wrinkly) and has a nice 'glow.' I really began to notice a significant change in the appearance of my facial skin when I began using more aggressive/close-shaving 'two-pass' razors, and my skin continues to 'glow' as I morphed into using straight razors.

Add the daily regimen of balms, lotions and skin food products available to the wet shaver, is it any wonder we're such a youthful-looking pack of face-scrapers? :)

My skin certainly feels better after my conversion earlier this year but I'm afraid I continue to have a face for radio.

I've read the same thing(an article) about shaving(many, many years ago) making a mans skin/face look younger...The theory was that the skin care products, exfoliation and facial muscle exersize(stretching/contorting) all contrubuted to keeping a mans face looking younger or at least more toned...I don't know that any of that has worked on me, as John said "I still have a face made for radio"..:) But I must also say my face "FEELS" much better on a daily basis than it did before I took up "traditional" shaving...:shaver

LOL! Now that there is funny, I don't care who you are.

Funny, been doing this for a few weeks, and I was just thinking "I must he seeing things...my face looks younger." Imagine my surprise when I found this post. There are some very reasonable explanations as to why in this thread...have I mentioned lately that I love wet shaving...and TSD?
