I also agree. Let the BBS come to you.

'I'll reiterate what others have said..A baby-bottom smooth shave is a wonderful thing when it happens, but 'it' may not happen every shave. If I were to try and get a BBS shave everyday, I have no doubt my sensitive skin would rebel. Rash, irritation, etc. Always best to just let a BBS shave happen & don't go chasing after it every time.

I just started using a DE that I got for Christmas. This is the first time I have found a thread that states what I was hoping to hear (there may be others I haven't yet read). Don' t go for a BBS shave every day. You saved my face the trouble of me trying to get it absolutely perfect every time. An almost perfect shave is way better than I used to get with my MachIII. My face needed a break after 3 straight days of chasing after a BBS shave.

Couldn't tell you at all. We had a competition for work over Christmas leave on who could grow the best beard, and we'd all have to shave them off the day we got back to work to be within regulations - mine was 3 days before it drove me nuts to the point where I ran upstairs and dove for my Aristocrat.

Yeah. The lip corners and under the jaw line.
I have only been wet shaving since xmas so I will improve, but "I want a BBS shave now!"
-(said in a winy 4 year old voice)

Yeah. It would be awesome to grow a thick mustache and full beard. My beard grows in patchy and the wife thinks i look silly. 3 weeks is the longest she has ever let me go without shaving.

My biggest problem is convincing my wife that I NEED every soap and cream on the market!

Definitely neck irritation. Still new to DE shaving, but I manage to get some red every time (even with just 1 WTG pass, more passes != more irritation). Would love some advice on that.

My biggest issue thus far is I can't shave every day just yet. DE shaves have been closer than cartridges and growth is not quite enough to shave the next day but I look a little scruffy.

What type of safety razor are you using? It could be a little too aggressive for shaving daily with your skin type...Perhaps getting a milder razor(Gillette Tech or tech clone), so you could alternate days, would help? And best of all to me at least you'd have an excuse to get another safety razor...:happy088:

Eddie, I have a Gillette travel tech razor and using Astra blades. I think the biggest challenge has been the neck. Yesterday's shave was better on my neck and I think I could shave today if I wasn't trapped at the inlaw's house with 1 bathroom and 4 females.

Regardless, I don't think my beard will grow any faster at this stage of life. I'm okay with that.

Shaving Forums. :) I'm not the most computer literate guy out there, and then add to that all the jargon-ese and acronyms; not to mention the Pandora's Box of product variety I never even knew existed.

Brother, when they said ignorance is bliss, they weren't lying! :shocked003: :happy102:

My biggest issue is my chin on the rounding. I can't control it ATG there. Angle issues.

Shave before bed? I'm a walking zombie AM plus the hectic with kids makes it an evening or afternoon ritual to me.

Ditto. Mine is a evening ritual. After a hot shower the shaving prep and shaving are a relaxing regimen I sometimes can't wait for.

Believe me when I say we all have had that feeling of wanting BBS and wanting it now!! Expressed in that same winy voice...:) My advice "DON"T do it...When I first started "traditional" shaving I wanted BBS no matter what it took and I felt like a failure if I didn't achieve it with every shave...As a result I felt like a failure alot and suffered much disappointment:(..

This led to terrible RAD(DE,SE,Injector) buying one razor after another seeking that "PERFECT" razor, multiple sample blade packs, ridiculously long face prep and 10+ pass shaves were a norm..Then it hit me that BBS with irritation wasn't neccesary, but irritation free WAS...So I changed my mantra from BBS with irritation to irritation free DFS..My life changed, my shaves especially prep became shorter and much more enjoyable, weepers, nicks, cuts,in growns and razor burn are now a thing of the past..In short I'm much happier with my shaves and shaving in general and I have a heck of a razor collection(100+)...:happy088:

    I'd like to see a video covering;

    a) How to use one of those 'maps' that allow you to map your grain directions,
    b) A special episode for people with very sensitive skin and/or skin conditions (rosacea, etc),
    c) Cold vs Warm water shave.
