Now this is what I would call an amazing set-up. In fact, it's a perfect Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Menthol Set-up in every way. The Gatsby facial wash is so cold that it makes a lot of menthol soaps and creams feel warm. The Vostok soap is easily as cold as Iced Subzero, and the combination of the 444 balm and the Penguin is guaranteed to make your teeth chatter! ;) :D

My noob setup for tomorrow. Third DE shave ever. Zero irritation, no weepers, and all DFS so far.

    After: Tariş Lavender Cologne

I tried treet 2 times in rimei but it irritated my skin and I altered to wilkinson and now shaving with a sharp blade on a milder razor is bearable. I definitely prefer rapira or derby over treet but anyway I had a moderate shave with it and learned how to treat this blade.

    Face Lathering Day Four

Yesterday's shave must have been better than I thought, since I only needed two passes for DFS this morning. The HIS loads and lathers the PPF so quickly that I wasn't sure I had enough. I did need to add a little water to the brush for the second pass, but the lather was creamy and felt good. I decided to use Proraso PSC and Krampert's Frostbite because it's unusually warm this morning, 38°F
Prep: Warm water, Proraso Crema Pre Barba
Soap: Petal Pusher Fancies Black Tea
    Brush: HIS Synthetic
    Razor: Maggard MR10
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock yellow
Post: cool water, Krampert's Finest Frostbite

    Definitely Menthol Monday!

    Monday

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
Razor: Gillette Bar Handle NEW SC
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm
    Aftershave: Krampert’s Frostbite

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle a bit for my beard)

I finally got to try my Gillette NEW SC. I paired it with a Gillette Silver Blue and Stirling MITA. I just had one of my best shaves ever: smooth, close, and nick free. The NEW SC is great. I finished with a great menthol blast of Krampert’s Frostbite. The Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic soap and Krampert’s Frosbite aftershave may be the perfect match for each other relative to scent, performance, and conditioning! Try it, you’ll like it!

    Off to San Antonio today……….

    Bob

    Menthol Monday (all week long):

Prep: Hot compress, Crown Shaving Co. Supreme Glide Preshave lotion
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow with clay and mango butter
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo Nickel
    Blade: Bolzano Superinox (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (4, 5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Menthol Vanishing ASB
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy (vintage)

Oh, my. If you're a menthol addict, you may want to give this combination some consideration. Irena's clay and mango butter soap is rather thirsty, but it lathered like a champ, and is oh-so-cold. The Grass Stain with it gives a nice herbaceous note to it that's very true to the scent. BBS results without irritation in 3-passes, and my face is properly frozen, particularly after the Lucky Tiger ASB. Hopefully I won't be inured of the effect by week's end.

The Col. Conk lime and Parker pure badger brush prepared my beard for a great shave. I am back with the Merkur 37c today with the Bluebird Hi-Stainless Platinum blade. Two passes with a very light touch left me clean and near BBS. I finished off with a cold water rinse followed by Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel and Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS. I palm stropped the blade for another day.

Third & Final Day of Razor Comparison

Pre: Hot shower, Shea Moisture Face Scrub; homemade Citrus PSO
    Razor: Two Mühle R41s—2011 & 2013
    Blade: Derby Stainless
    Brush: Lijun Silvertip Badger
    Lather: Martin De Candre Fougere
    Shave: Three passes, plus touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, alum block, 444 menthol balm

After 3 consecutive days of comparing these razors, this morning I used Derby blades in each.
Regrettably, I discovered these blades are not the best match for neither my face nor these razors.
A bit of a rough shave with some irritation and bloodletting.
I do love the MdC lather, however. Fantastic soap!
If you'd like read the results of my comparisons on the two Mühle R41s, you can find it here.

    Prep: CeraVe facial cleanser
    Soap: Petal Pusher Fancies unscented
Brush: Oscar11 custom with HIS knot
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
    Blade: Gillette SharpEdge (yellow pack)
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

Nice comfortable shave today. The PPF soap lathered easily with the big HIS knot. I put a new Gillette yellow blade in the ShaveCraft razor today and got a very smooth result. My shave yesterday was so close that three passes is all that was needed.

I've use the TSD ISZ PSB and do like it. I'm currently using my own pre-shave oil.
Just curious, what's your routine with a pre-shave soap and a pre-shave balm?
