    Prep: hot shower
    Razor: Weishi
    Blade: Astra SP (day 5)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Cream: Arko Ice Mint
    Passes: 3 (2x WTG, XTG)
    Post: cold water, 444

I added a few new things to today's shave... and it could have gone better. I probably didn't soak the brush long enough, but I could not get any amount of lather from the Arko ice mint.

I had the brush soaking in warmish water while I was showering, and it felt good and wet when I went to face lather. I could feel the menthol effect from the cream, which was very nice, but no lather build up on my face or brush ;( I shaved any ways, and there was a layer of shave cream, I just couldn't see it. The brush did have a bit of a smell to it, so I put a dab of shampoo on it and of course that lathered up right away!

The 444 AS balm didn't strike me as a menthol AS balm at first, possibly from the Arko ice mint's lingering effect . I didn't feel much cooling, although it did remind me a little of Vicks... Then when I actually got outside and the wind hit my face, THAT was cold.

    Razor: ER 1924
    Blade: Treet carbon SE
    Brush: Omega 10810 boar
Lather: Barrister and Mann Cheshire sample + Proraso red tube
    Post: Pinaud Clubman
Passes: Sideburns;WTG, XTG, ATG Chin: WTG,WTG,WTG

DFS but not satisfied with the experience. The Treet's were tugging. This being the second shave and them being carbons. I dipped them in alcohol the first time after use. The first time they were excellent. After the first shave they developed 2 little black spots that did not look like rust and I just rubbed off with my finger. After this second shave was over I immediately took them out and noticed on one side there was tons of little black spots all going in a line across the width of the blade. I tossed them. I bought them at about $15 for 120 which works out to 0.13 a shave using them only once. Still not bad.

I was also not satisfied with the Barrister and Mann soap. I didn't like the scent- though upon lathering it on my face there doesn't seem to be much of any. I noticed it seems to be very thirsty. After one pass I was not satisfied because the lather wasn't beard softening at all. With all the tugging it was unacceptable so I added a drop of Proraso on my brush and continued with the super lather.

End result I got DFS with slight irritation.

    DdC
    Semogue 740
    Alum

Today I faced lathered. The DdC was outstanding. No burn from the alum. I did a 3 pass. My ATG pass I used very little pressure. Slightly removing the cream. BBS? Not sure, DFS? Yes. I'd take it every time.. image.jpg

Happy birthday to the newest little shaver, Micah David (grandchild #8), 7 lbs. 5 oz., 19.5 inches.

Today, we welcomed our eighth grandchild, Micah, into the world. A new little shaver. Today's shave was smooth and refreshing. The Cella face lathered nicely with the Semogue 1305 boar brush. After two passes and some touch ups with the Merkur 37c slant, I was near BBS. I followed the cold water rinse with Thayers Cucumber WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. Nice...

I must ask, how is the flow on the Simpson 2 band knots? Not as much of a lather hog as the Ch1 in best?

Flow through is superb. Possibly the best 2-band I have used in that category that also lives up to my density obsession. I have found that the flow through is much better than the TSN LE I had in best. It was a little bigger 24mm, but definitely didn't like to give up the product as easy. Now, if I could find one just a little bigger ;).

I've been looking into getting Mark to make me a Duke 3 2 band for that very reason, the Duke 2 I had was a little too small because I like both face and scuttle lathering; the D3 is from what I read a CH1 knot crammed into a more comfortable and larger handle. Plus it doesn't cost near as much as a Chubby 2, those babies are EXPENSIVE in Best, let alone 2 band!

    Sheraton answer.jpg

Sorry I did not get to this until now. This razor is a Sheraton. The difference is in the riveted hinges as I am showing with the arrow. The Sheraton was made in two series. The first series was 1937 - 1938 and it had the riveted hinges. When the Senator came out in 1939 both were made with the streamlined hinge. This configuration for both razors was made for only one year then the Regent Tech came into play in 1940 with the guard bar rather than the Open Comb style.

    Here is a Senator.

    Senator.JPG

Note the different in the hinged ends. There are no rivets. This new end design would carry into the Regent Tech, Ranger Tech, Milord and Super Speed Series (eventually covered with end caps).

I have both configurations of Sheraton razors along with a Senator so I am well versed with the differences.

    I hope this helps.

Sounds like a winner! I saw a beautiful Duke 3 LE sell recently, but I think it may have been Manchurian. I wouldn't mind a little bigger handle on the Chubby, but also enjoy the little extra density in the knot, I get with the smaller handle. I'm sure you will enjoy it if you end up finding one or having one made!

Thanks for the confirmation. As I mentioned to Ryan, I took a guess that it was a Sheraton but I hesitated to call it that because I only saw it on Mr-Razor's website and I don't know if he shows every single model ever made or just gives a broad representative sample. Very grateful to have access to your bank of knowledge.
The other one I picked up the same day that I was curious about had a ball end handle with grooves and the only razor I found that looked like it was called a Contract Tech.

Mr-Razor showed one that looked identical and it was listed as a 1946 model. I'd like to make one more withdrawal from your bank of knowledge if I may.
