Some while ago I started using my razor to 'trim' the bottom of my sideburns with my DE razor. It's actually working pretty well. Anyone else gotten into that 'odd' habit? Now granted, I only get my hair cut every 6-7 weeks or so so maybe this is just because I get more shabby
Yes. My soul patch as well. Fast and easy. I not only square up the bottoms but cut to length and thin them with my slant.
I outline my side burns every time I shave, just got into the habit of it. Since I am not allowed to have them below my ears due to standards at work, I push the limit of maximum facial hair possible but just under their limits.
Unfortunately my sideburns never have grown either quickly or thickly... So I just more or less even then out when I shave...
Why do you consider it "odd"? The top of the shave has to start somewhere. For me at the bottom of me sideburns seems to be the most logical place. Now where that is, middle of ear, even with the earlobe, even with the top of the ear, is a matter of preference. Same with any facial hair. I trim around my 'stache with my razor. What else would one use?
I used to use a pair of scissors to 'thin/trim' my sideburns but now with a DE razor I just find it convenient to use the razor.
And that begs the question, what were you shaving with at the time? Even back when I used cartridges I used them to trim the sideburns.
Yes I do, always have, with the straightness of the razor wider then my side burns it's easy to do a clean straight trim.
Back in my 'cartridge days, trimming my sideburns was more challenging (multiple passes & inconsistent cuts). With a DE razor, it was much easier to great a clean trim. With a straight razor, I found it even easier.
Nothing to add since I have not worn sideburns since 1983 - some GQ article said they were not stylish and I never grew them back. Now, I would just look silly with sideburns and a shaved head.
