How does the lavender AS smell? Is it real flowery, or what? I have been considering trying the Stirling Lavender Sage.

I did not have an enjoyable shave today. Not being able to get a lather out of the Arko Ice Mint is bugging me, so I tried lathering it up in a bowl with no improvements. Everything just gets sacked up into the brush, if I squeeze the brush I get a milky liquid that just gets sacked back into the brush when I try to lather. I started over with a significantly dryer brush but no changes. I switched to Col Conk and still had lather issues, way to wet. I ended up going back to the puck and face lathering.

I had to do more touch ups then I would have liked, but I did end up with an acceptable shave... the Arko Ice Mint will be going to the back of the den for a while.

    1/31/2014 Face Lathering Week

Prep: Hot shower with Shea Moisture Shave Face Scrub & Wash, Home made PSO
Razor: GEM Micro Matic Clog Pruf, Imperial Razor/Warranted/Germany Barbers Favorite straight razor
Blade: Gem PTFE coated single edge (2)
    Brush: #6
    Soap: Tabac Shaving Soap
    After: Home made ASB
After Shave: Tabac After Shave Lotion
    Cologne: Tabac Eau De Cologne

It was a Tabac kind of morning. I had not use the pre shave oil for a couple of days because I did not want it to mess with the face lathering. I added the pre shave oil in this morning and had no trouble face lathering the Tabac shave soap. The rest of the gear came together to produce a Darn Fine Shave+ this morning.

Friday, January 31 - Face Lather Week
Prep: wash with some sort of hand soap and homemade PSO
    Razor: Merkur HD
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (3rd face, 2 head shaves)
    Creme: Body Shop Maca Root
    Brush: Omega boar
Post: Warm rinse, cold rinse and Captain's Choice Bay Rum

I realized that I can shave more than once a day, just not my face. I can shave my head at night and my face in the morning and enjoy more time for me. Decent face lather, but got a little thin on 3rd pass. I think the blade is pretty close to done with likely the equivalent of 8 face shaves on it.

Near-BBS smooth Friday shave. Nothing fancy, just two efficient passes with the R41; great Tabac lather.

It is fresher than any lavender oil, close to lavender scents which is sold in small bottles in a herbalist shop. It's flowery, but also you feel the freshness. I highly recommend it. I can smell it during the day, it's very lasting. I haven't tried Stirlings yet so I can't say a word for it.

    Prep:
Nivea for Men Sensitive face wash and plenty of warm water.
    Razor: '61 Gillette 195 Adjustable on "5".
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (4)
Brush: Custom Shavemac Silvertip knot 20@46mm in faux ivory handle.
    Lather: D.R.Harris Arlington SS.
Shave: 3 passes adjusted for grain.
Post: Alum, cold water and Nivea for Men Sensitive ASB.

I continue to be impressed by the Fatboy. Very smooth shaver. The Gillette blade still has plenty of mileage left - didn't feel any unpleasant, not even ATG.

This is one amazing setup that yielded a shave that put an hour long smile on my face. Very close to BBS all over, but generally a solid DFS+++.

That is Mühles' stock 'grande' handle. For the ( :)) size, it is relatively light. Some find the subtle knurling on the handle a bit 'slippery when wet,' but that has not been my experience.

    Soap: HTGAM, unscented
Brush: Oscar11 custom with HIS knot
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
    Blade: Feather
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

First shave after getting home from vacation. I got home late Wednesday night and slept in yesterday and didn't shave. Always a pleasure to make a lather with this beautiful Oscar11 brush. The ShaveCraft razor with a Feather blade did a great job taking down the two day stubble. Three passes, goods smooth result.

Face lather. DFS with minimal irritation. I had bad results with the EJ and Astra SP but this combo is good. Almost no tugging and very smooth. The Lord is an excellent shaver. I just wish it was heftier and made of brass or steel. At least solid pot metal...

    Blade: Gillette Goal

    Soap: Proraso Green

Post: Gentleman Jon Alum/ Nivea Sensitive Balm, followed by a moisturizer later on before bed.

Second shave with the Gillette Goal, and the first blade I have used in the Krona. The Razor has treated me well, I like the longer handle compared to the Gillette SS, but I would prefer it to be a bit heavier. The Goal Blade is middle of the road performance for me (easily forgettable), still looking for my go to blades. I have enjoyed the GSB, and the green 7oclock. Looking forward to trying the other gillette 7oclock series.

    Gondolier day
Today I decided to use the Synergy Gondolier soap and lotion together, to better evaluate the lotion. One pump for each side of my face disappears rapidly into my skin and leaves a pleasant feeling and subtle scent. I'll be able to properly review it after a week or so of use. It'll get a diverse set of soaps to compliment, since the Yeti snot pass around had reached me.
