I shaved with my shavette one day and my ER 1914 the next....actually kind of the same thing, the sound was similar and the attention to angles, but the finished product?...The ER'14 actually gave me a closer shave...lol!.....Yep, the '14 is a must have!!!

Here's a couple bad pictures of my "14"...the pictures are not fuzzy...this is just how I see it without my glasses...

Anyone know if the ER 1914 has a unplated brass version? I've looked on ebay and found no prior.current listings. I have a strong preference for the unplated brass razors because no matter (to an extent) what their condition they can be shined up real nice plus i just love the color.

Cannot find an ER 1914 un-plated brass version.
However here is a "brass" Clog Pruf

This thread convinced me to take the plunge! In today's USPS I received these,

I'm going to use the Damaskeene first due to all the good reviews. I have some CVS SE blades that I will use (I have some others in route).

I have a couple of questions:

    1) The Ever-Read has some brassing on the lip that's a little rough. What can I use to smooth it out?

    2) Any guesses of the year of the Damaskeene? I've seen others that only say "Gem Damaskeene Blades" where this one says "only use with Gem Damaskeene blades"

If it's stamped GEM Cutlery on the back of the frame it was made prior to the merger in 1919, those made after the merger are stamped GEM Safety Razor.

AHH man!! There are many who say that Grand Dame is the best razor ever....I can not find one reason to argue with this.....How does yours shave?? Don't make it tardy to the party with the 'Maiden Voyage' Report and spare no details no matter how insignificant they may seem at the time....lol!!
Also that ER1912 which came out after 1930, is also a beautiful to look at and fantastic shaver aswell....Congratulations are in order...;)

Besides just shaving with them I can't think of any other way to honor them. Maybe unique pictures of them.

Or cake. Cake is good. And streamers. Lots of steamers. I love the little thing, but find currently available blades not quite sharp enough. But I will absolutely use one of the 4-5 I own on the appointed day!
