It took me some time to think this through...because I think different razors could have been 'better' for me different stages/points in my life...but I think I have the best razor ever right now and I would have to say it's my Barbasol w/ Floating head design. And no, you can't pick two
I have none. They all provide different qualities. My ER 1912 is the prettiest, has a nice lather catcher feature and has good handling but not the closest shave. My ER 1924 definitely gives the closest BBS shaves with little effort but then the next day I don't have much to shave It's hard to pick just one.
That is probably the only modern DE razor I'd like to try...that and the 2011 one...and maybe a Grande Fatip....
Stupid question: What's the difference between the regular Micromatics and the Bullet tip one (apart from the end of the handle looking differently)?
That one is very mild. Just look at it. Now it makes sense that Jayaruh didnt have a pleasant experience with the 1924... I need to pick one of those up. The mildest I have is the Junior.
The next one I buy! No, seriously, I can't begin to pick one. They all have their merits and characteristics.
I also have the MMOC and the MM Clog-pruf. The Clog-pruf was my favorite until I got the MMBT. I love the weight, the balance, and the ease of handling. It has always provided a near BBS shave in just two passes without irritation, and it looks pretty cool. I can't ask for more than that.
Would it count if my favorite right now is a frankenrazor? Old Type head on a Maggard MR10 handle. I have an iKon Shavecraft 101 on the way, so my mind could be changing soon.
The Merkur 38c Barber Pole was my best...then I sold it. The 1960 Fat Boy was my best...then I sold it. The Merkur 39c Slant 'Sledgehammer' was my best...then I sold it. Both the Merkur Futur and Mühle R41 (2011) I use quite a bit as they give me the best shaves and I haven't sold them....yet.
Wow tough call. If you mean best as in performing there is the good old old DE89 , '47 Aristocrat, '69Super Adjustable with metal baseplate, but if I had to pick one that just consistently gives an all out awesome shave, no matter what stage of growth etc..it would be my Red Tip Super Speed.
Ryan bales gillette rocket he loaned me lol he keeps telling me to take my time sending it back. Im starting to think that means 2015
I love my Barbasol razor and have owned a handful of them over the years. The only thing I dont like about it is the length of the handle. I wish it were shorter, but it is a minor gripe. I really cant say which is my best ever, I go through phases. It was either a Old Type on BRW Improved handle, Gem OCMM, Barbasol Razor, New Improved on a UFO, R41 on a Weber Bulldog, or my banged up bar handle LC New. They have all occupied the top spot at one time or another.
Edwin Jagger DE89. I've tried a few other options, but when there is any doubt, this one always delivers!
