There are better menthol creams out there. Ingram, Palmolive Menthol, Gada Cool Mint, and SuperMax Menthol all have more menthol, better performance, and better skincare.

I think Proraso Green is one of the most overrated products out there. But I won't try to stop someone from using it. ;)

I do the exact same prep for every shave. Most of the other ones turn out fine. I have also tried other eucalyptus products that all gave the same reaction.

I have never been able to find SuperMax Menthol, I have used the original and its a great cream. Where do you find it? I will differ with you on the Proraso though, if it was really that overrated it would have died out years ago. It's still here for a reason.

I have a friend in Bulgaria I used to trade with. He gave me that and a few other Bulgaria creams.

Before I knew Proraso irritated my face, I found it uninteresting and dull. The menthol effect was less than Palmolive, Ingram, SuperMax, Gada Cool Mint, and even Arko Ice Mint. It might have been here for years, but it is still over hyped by people who haven't had the luxury of trying better stuff. Not saying Proraso is bad, because I enjoy the White soap, Red and even the Blue creams.

I'm amazed by all the comments about Proraso irritating skin. What type of irritation do you all get?

Same it suprises me as well. I find proraso very soothing to my skin. I use the new formula and the aftershave green and white for both. Need to grab the red tube when I get a second.

My skin breaks out. It looks like acne, but it doesn't go away for days. This doesn't happen when I use other soaps or creams.

I'm not really surprised, there are a lot of questionable ingredients in it. Maybe three or four could be classed as skin irritants.

I just bought the green tub and an very happy with the performance. The smell is not mediciny and it is cooling on the face. As with all Proraso products, the lather is great and it does leave my face feeling soft and smooth. No irritation at all. :)

"Questionable ingredients"? Could you please elaborate?

Well the three that caught my eye when I read the back of the tub were Parfum (a lot of people have a sensitivity to fragrance and some are flat out allergic to it, doesn't help that its a term for hundreds of different chemicals so you don't really know which one or ones are being used), Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate (classed as a skin irritant) and Tetrasodium EDTA (can cause eczema flare ups in some people, it's also made from formaldehyde and sodium cyanide so that's pretty awesome). I'm not familiar with some of the other chemicals in it, but it does seem to be well on the way to a mostly chemical formulation as opposed to a more natural one and when that happens you tend to start triggering skin issues in more and more people.

I'm not saying it's bad. I have some and I've used it and I will keep using it from time to time. However, I don't buy into the old time barber tradition that Proraso are peddling since the formulation clearly has more input from chemists and bean counters than barbers.
