Passed by a local thrift store today and picked up a neat looking rooster bowl (what else says "Early morning" that well?) :) - and after plunking down a dollar and change it found its way to my lil shaving den where it will be used a my new shaving bowl :)

It's pretty wide and shallow - no idea what it was originally intended for (can anyone tell by the look of it?) - but I think i'll work well for me.

I'm sure your rooster bowl will work "VERY" well as a lather bowl... :happy088: You certainly can't beat the price!!!!
I use a stainless steel bowl I bought off ebay, the same shape and dimensions as the VDH ceramic bowl....

Thanks! I'm normally a face latherer but got some creams now that I want to try out so thought this rooster may help me with that :)

I don't normally bowl lather, but when I do, I use this green thingy.

And looks like you're getting quite the lather with it. Nice!

Ceramic onion soup bowl; I love having a handle to hold while whipping lather. Has a top, too. $5 @ some antique shop.

Maybe a soup mug? Mine looks similar and is supposed to be a 14 oz. soup mug.

I bought a pair of these for not much. Best I can tell, they're 30-40 yrs old and were made by
Pfaltzgraff Pottery in Pennsylvania. The other is part of my DE loaner kit, which is on loan right now.
The mug, a '67 Gillette super speed, an Omega 49 and some VDH have gotten 3 new guys started so far. :)
I know some folks don't like bowls or mugs, but I've had the best luck getting the new guys to practice
making lather when using this mug.

Cella and my mug still don't get along well.....

Hoping for better lather once the Semogue gets broken in. ;)

I don't know why but I can't get a good lather out of any bowls like that- flat bottomed and the sides parallel to each other. Only the round bottomed ones work for me.

Just using the green and blue VDH bowl. I like it a lot though.

    That must be it.
Cella doesn't like a flat bottom. (but a fat bottom is ok?)

Ok, I'm now searching for a fat, round bottomed...
