SOTD March 21 -- Blade safari day 46 Prep: hot shower Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki with ball end handle Blade: Perma-Sharp Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Proraso Green Passes: 2+(WTG, XTG) Post: Nivea Men cool kick Another excellent shave. Superb lather from the Proraso Green and again I was lucky enough to get a touch of menthol effect. The Perma-Sharp was doing so well I decide to add an extra ATG pass for my neck and jaw line. It left me with a little irritation, but it didn't last.
6/8 Torrey PPF Plisson synthetic This razor is perfection in it's simplicity and shaves way above it's pay grade, just a fine shaver. I used a castration band (purchased at any farm store, at least around here) on the Plisson to shorten the loft by 5mm, an improvement, IMO. I'll probably tweak a bit more for tomorrows shave. Have a good one.

I've seen these used for many things, but this is the first time for this application! How did you stretch it out? Did you use an actually elastrator tool?

No I haven't used the tool, I've been able to roll them over the handle most of the time. I wouldn't try and roll them on over the hair or fiber down to the handle. I would worry about breaking the fibers. The tool could come in handy for that, though. My primary use for them is holding the open reeds on the coyote calls I make.

3/21/14 Prep: Warm wash with Stirling Barbershop and application of homemade PSO Razor: Parker SRB and Merkur 34HD Blade: Shark and Wilkinson Sword Lather: artisan homemade sandelwood type Post: Cold rinse, styptic pencil and Old Spice aftershave I am using a new soap from the following shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/IanSSoaps This is the "vintage" soap deal that he made several years ago. This soap may have made the best lather I have experience in the past few months. Thick and slick and fast building. Anyways, the shave itself was good. For some odd reason, I was feeling throwbacky and decided to try the Parker again. This will be the last time. I cut my left ear! How did I do that? So I had to stop shaving and try to staunch the flow of blood on my ear. Put down the Parker and finished the shave with the Merkur. Uneventful the rest of the way. Look for a 3 times used Parker SRB and 98 half blades in the Classifieds after April 3!

Frey's Day: Prep: Hot shower, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Van Der Ginger's frankensoap Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (3, 4, 5) Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS Cologne: The Third Man by Carven I had a lazy day yesterday and skipped shaving; sadly, this did not prevent the recurrence of the all-too-common weeper along the side of my Adam's Apple with today's shave. My lather this AM was slightly below expectations, as I needed to go back to the puck for the 3rd pass, but the results were nearly BBS. After some debate, I opted for the Captain's Choice instead of the Pinaud Clubman, because I find the clove-like note in the Cat o' Nine Tails meshes better with the clove note in The Third Man.
