  3. Saturday:
hot shower w/Musgo Real Lime Basil bar soap
    Maggard Razors Lime PSO
    Frog straight 2 passes
    1914 EverReady 2 passes
    Gem (5)
    VDH boar
    SRD Lime soap (sample)
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes AS balm

I just shaved yesterday so technically I'm not on again till tomorrow but an evening event gave me the opportunity for an afternoon shower and shave today. Used the SE on my neck and the straight on the rest of my face.

Still have some samples from Straight Razor Designs that I haven't tried and the Lime was one of them. I melted it into the bottom of a small bowl for easier lathering and it did not disappoint. A nice cushiony butter and a gentle scent.

I really like Musgo's Lime Basil scent so I was excited to discover the makers of Softsoap have a Décor Collection (liquid hand soap) and one of the scents is Wild Basil and Lime.

  4. Razor: GEM MMOC (3)
    Blade: TP GEM (2)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Lather: Stirling Naked and Smooth
    Post: Pinaud

Not impressed with the Stirling. This is the second shot I gave it after I had a few problems with the Sandalwood. I have no problems with the performance that is ok. I have no problems with the scent either- it is not that strong so it did not cause irritation. My problem is that it is hard to wash off. My best guess is that it is probably all the castor oil in it. I also really don't like the lather it feels slimy... While it feels moisturizing on my face it's not after I dry my face. I knew what to expect this time and waited for a few minutes as my face began to dry and tighten. I quickly whipped up some Arko. Both to get rid of the soap that remained on my brush and face. The first time it happened with the sandalwood I did not expect such a thing from a shave soap but after about 20 minutes I had to go back in the bathroom. It was as I had received an egg white facial and the egg had dried on my face. My skin felt tight and there was cracking. Not an easy soap to wash off. I will be giving away the other sample I ordered. A wise person I knew always used to say "if it's not broke, don't fix it!" I will be sticking with Arko...

On another note I used the Stirling bath soap and it looks like I will definitely be keeping that one. I used the Scots Pine sample I received as a freebie and I felt clean and moisturized. I am a big fan of Bag Balm so I would like to see what the lanolin does for my skin long term.

  8. I love that you gave a colorful name to your beautiful Oscar11 brush! I have one that is similar, and I have thought about making it. I have got to come up with something good!
  9. Took the new American steel out for a spin! Great heft to this razor since the scales are steel as well. Very unique. After a balsa strop and about 50 laps on the leather, this old beauty gave me a thrilling DFS!

  11. Happy Bday Thorsten! A great shave is a wonderful way to start your special day ;)
  12. Hi together,

today i tested 2 new things. My PannaCrema Namaste and my Giesen & Forsthoff (Timor) Open Comb razor, which was borrowed me from a member of our German forum. First i had a hot shower and than i startet shaving with this equipment:

    -Soap: PannaCrema Namaste
    -Brush: Frank Shaving 28mm Synthetic
-Razor: Giesen & Forsthoff (Timor) Open Comb
-Blade: HEMA (2-passes with a little touch up)
    -Aftershave: Myrsol Agua Balsamica

A very nice and enjoyable shave. The razor is very very gentle but at the same time very thoroughly. It has a nice weight to it and seems to be nearly perfectly balanced. The blade had it´s 4th shave,so now i noticed that the sharpness has had better times. This blade will now take place in my blade bank.

So,that´s it for now. Hope you have a great time and great shaves.

    Take care.

    Greetings
    Thorsten

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Martin de Candre
    Razor: Gillette Slim
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (2-3)
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm
    Aftershave: Clubman

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I finally got to try MdC. I was approached for a sample trade of Los Angeles SS. I received samples of both the Regular and the Fougère scents. I used the Regular yesterday and today. As advertised, it almost lathers before the brush touches it. I face lathered and bowl lathered. Both worked great, although I give the edge to face lathering with it. The Regular scent is terrific, and along with the Slim and Personna Med Prep, I got two excellent shaves. I will use the Fougère for the next few shaves. I finished up with Clubman.

FWIW-I would not have thought of using a new contact lens case to send samples, although I am sure many have done it. Great idea!

    Bob

Cracky does it again - another awesome BBS shave with his famous Sunday morning prep and technique. I wish I had the time to shave like this during the week, but unfortunately it is what it is. BTW, this Derbylux cream is from Hungary and it's made by the same company as Barbon and Figaro, and it smells great with rich, stable lather and a very nice menthol effect. The witch hazel and the Aqua Velva felt wonderful afterwards! ;) :D

    Parker Black Badger
    '62 Gillette Slim
    Voskhod Teflon (4)
    CWR
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

The Proraso Green Shave Cream face lathered well with the Parker black badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the '62 Gillette Slim and Voskhod Teflon Coated blade left me with a near BBS shave. After the cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The star of this mornings shave was moz's Rooney, what a luxurious brush. It's big, dense, soft with just a hint of scrub. If you can get the right combo in a fan style knot, it just doesn't get much better, IMO. This brush pushes all the right buttons for me. Very nice shave this morning. Heading to the shop for a while, have a good one.
