Hi guys, as above I picked up a lightly used brush to add into the rotation following me being concerned about letting my brush dry between uses. This will give me another option and I know these get pretty good reviews, it I appears hardly used and only cost me £8 posted so pretty happy. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes, the handle has a nice weight and it feels like it should be good for anything.

Great brush, I have one, too. It's one half of a rotation of two brushes :)

Thanks guys, it sounds like I made the correct decision to go with this one. I am primarily a face latherer with creams so hopefully this will be able to cope with that and some soaps.

Good face latherer! I used to have one, but PIF'ed it to one of your countrymen. Man-sized handle!

As anticipated the Grosvenor performed perfectly this morning. Short soak, face lather with TOBS Shaving Shop and a good quality shave was the result. :)

Yeah man, I judged mine harshly out of the box. Mangey, scrubby little knot. Figured it was going to be all hype and that I'd thrown $ away, but she turned out to be a huge workhorse and I love it now.

Great brush, I'm sure things will improve a little for you even as you learn what it likes and how it excels.

That's a very good point, I've read a lot how people prejudged it but were soon win round by its performance. The handle was a real surprise, my normal brush is a custom oak chubby style which has a bit of heft but the Grosvenor felt solid.

blanka I will not eat my shaving products. Promise.

I was given one as part of a PIF here a couple years back. Love it. I use it almost daily.

I really went back and forth with getting this brush. I have a vulfix 2234 in super that i love. I also like my omega mixed midget with the mixed knot. I didnt get it because i really wanted a larger knot size. I cannot find one with a mixed knot however. I normally like a 24-26mm knot. 23 min. My only exception is the vulfix 2234 which is a 22mm.
Maybe I should just suck it up and buy one of these. Very reasonable price tag on them too.
this thread might end up costing me some money LOL

You won't regret, it really is a nice brush.
But speaking of 24 mm knots in boar/badger this brush would have been perfect for you...

Chuck F Cheesy! Big Curd style

I've heard nothing but great things about the Grosvenor, in this thread and elsewhere, but I recall when I went looking a while back I couldn't find any sites selling them. Anybody know where I can get one? Are they currently being produced?

Edit: Never mind, now I see it's in stock at both Bullgoose and Italian Barber. Another one for The List!

Semogue SE (special edition) 2012. Only 100 were made I believe, but I'm not sure about that. Great brush, but so is the 404. They are the only two brushes I use (and a Semogue 1438 boar brush that I use as a travel brush). Both get equal playtime, each Saturday I switch to the other. Both have excellent backbone, and I like backbone :)
Edit: they made much more than 100 brushes, the brush was for sale all over the internet.
