How do you store your DE shaving equipment for travelling?

As we all know, DE shaving tools aren't available in the supermarkets and local stores like the cartridge ones, so those of you who are into DE shaving probably bring their shaving equipment (razor, brush, mug and cream) with themselves when trey travel somewhere. My question is: How do you store your equipment in order to keep it safe during traveling?

I use an old eyeglass case for the razor. Brush is stored in a side pocket in my dopp kit. No mug and take a tube of cream with so no special handling there.

The eyeglass case offers ample protection and there is room for razor blades as well. The side pocket offers water "proof" protection from the other gear in my dopp. Just use a glass or coffee cup or the palm of my hand for lathering.

My travel kit for anything from a week vacation to 12 month deployment overseas.

The faux leather razor case was $10 from ItalianBarber
Muhle travel tube was less than $10 from Giftsandcare.com

Keeps the brush and razor safe, I always face lather so no need for mugs etc when travelling or deploying. I used to use the plastic soap dish container though, for the longest time, it would hold my DE and enough blades for at least 6 months just in that little plastic square.

Wrap the razor in a paper towel, stuff into small box, goes into toiletry bag.
Blades go into side pocket of bag.
Bottle of Brut is plastic, goes into bag.
Brush gets put into empty pill bottle that has holes drilled in both ends for ventilation, into bag.
Also into bag - toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and shampoo, styptic pencil.
I may toss in a tube of C. O. Bigelow.

My soaps are in small glass bowls (usually take two), and my lather bowl is my cheapest of the several I have - all glass gets wrapped in t-shirts that I'll be taking along, then stuffed in between the rest of the clothes in the suit case, along with the toiletry bag. Haven't had anything damaged... yet ;)

I'm one who sees no benefit in "travel" razors or "travel" brushes; items being made smaller for the sake of traveling ease.
I mean, really, how much space are you saving by taking 1.5 inches off the handle of a razor or 4-5 mm off a brush, or shaving off (pun intended) an ounce or two in weight. I travel with the same stuff I use daily at home.

I just pack a can of Barbasol in my dopp kit and leave the brush and mug at home

I leave all my DE shaving gear at home for fear of having it stolen. I just take some cheap disposable razors and a travel tube of cream. Paranoid I know.

If I'm checking a bag or driving, I lean toward a 3-pc razor disassembled and wrapped in a paper towel. Pretty tough to crush or damage that. For soap, I'll take a shave stick. It's compact and no need for a bowl with it. I'd like to get a synthetic brush eventually but for now I take a small AOS pure badger that works pretty well and if I had to put it away a little damp, I just make sure to pull it out of the kit as soon as I can after I get home. Haven't had any problems yet.

If I have to carry-on, I take a Trac II instead of a DE.

To avoid hassles, I use a cartridge razor (Sensor Excel) when traveling. I put my brush in a brush container that I bought from Em's Shave Place. I bring along an Ogallala shave stick for my soap. I've gotten some pretty excellent shaves with this setup.

Everything goes into my shave bag…
Brush goes into a empty TP roll, DE razor gets one of these covers by Mühle:

Straights travel in their cases, soap pucks in a tin
…and extra DE blades go in this vintage Gillette blade holder:

Most pre or post balms I take come in a tube, not a bottle (no spillage).

This is my kit. It consists for now, of the last two travel bottles of AofS pre and post shave oil and balm, small pure badger brush and it's travel tube, and my Parker soap along with my Merkur razor. It all fits nicely in a leather case. I take this with me every week.

I hear ya. I use a small leather case that a nail//toenail clipper, file, disposable razor and cuticle scissors comes in. Box of blades where the carts should go, elastic around my selected razor and that's all in that case. I use CC travel containers for the soap and love them. http://www.colconkproducts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=30
I just throw my synthetic right in my toiletry kit unprotected with my soap container. My "razor kit" goes in my brief case through security (blades in checked bag obviously). If I'm not checking a bag I always find a cheap pack of blades and use a new one every day :). As for the razor, it comes with me to meetings in my brief case if it's my Executive FB. I leave my techs. I leave the brush and soap displayed in the hotel room bath. Would have to be pretty weird to mess with a brush and puck of soap.

There are some good ideas here. I have all of my stuff at home but I am in the process of setting up a set for in the RV, and a set for in my suitcase.

This is my travel setup. Got the travel set from ebay, replaced the original brush with a omega travel brush and loaded the other container with a palmolive shave stick.

What I carry for travel depends on where I am going, how long I will be there, etc. I actually have about 90 different combinations to use for travel.

For light travel I go as simple as I can - just shave secret & a razor.

I just got this yesterday for long-term travel mar20z039.jpg mar20z041.jpg mar20z043.jpg I'm not sure it will hold everything yet, but I think I can stuff what I need into it. I wanted one a little bigger, but just couldn't find one. This is 9" X 12" X 6 1/2". The best part is that it can actually fit into the trunk on my motorcycle. :transport016:.

For short term travel, I cram all my shaving gear into an old Rexall tin 'band-aid' container.

I can fit the Omega mighty midget, 3 piece LC New, half a shave stick, a tuck or two of blades and a hunk of my alum block from where it hit the floor and shattered.

Shoot i never used any fancy cases or even the cheapo TP roll to protect my brush...i took the 3 piece apart and placed it in a side pocket of my dopp bag...blades newly packaged in a side pocket and the brush was at the top of the bag. stored it around my undies in the luggage. I barely used it in when i was in Italy for 2 months. I decided that fitting in and growing a thick beard was the way to go.

I use a clean pill bottle with holes drilled for the brush. My Weishi is now my travel razor and it came with a travel case. For the soap I got a plastic tub from Mama Bear Soaps and melted some VDH Luxury soap in it. Nothing fancy, but it works!
