1. Thanks Gary,

I love my little Spyderco EDC UK non locking pen knife, so I thought she deserves a place in my SOTD lineup and where would us Men be without our trusty watches.

I made a mistake today. I decided to use canned Barbasol and my Headblade ATX to shave my head in the shower. Not a great idea. But, my face shave worked out pretty well.
Prep: Hot shower and face wash with Stirling Scots Pine Sheep bar
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061
    Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (5)
    Blade: Sharp stainless (3)
Post: Cold rinse and Proraso Green AS

The Slim at 5 may be a little too aggressive. 3 passes and only a SAS, however, I may have been distracted by the debacle that was my head shave.

Went back and fixed my horrible head shave with this:

  6. SUNDAY
Smooth, 2-pass straight razor shave this morning. Not bad at all, considering how sore my left hand is today (too much hand-sanding on another straight restore yesterday!). I do highly recommend the Institut Karite ('Shea Butter Institute') products, particularly for those with either sensitive or dry skin (me!). My face feels great post-shave!

    Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

  10. I'm breaking up with Feather blades.
Today I thought I'd try Feather Hi-Stainless blades in my trusty SC101... I got a close shave, but a really rough one. When I took the blade out, there were still parts of my face on it!

The soap was once again close to ideal in performance - my HIS synthetic very easily whipped up good yogurty slickness, and I lathered directly over my RR/HTGAM pre-shave soap. The first pass when uneventfully - smooth and easy, what I've come to expect from this razor and any other blade I've used in it. The second pass was good, too, and even the last one did not bother me until I rinsed. several weepers began to appear, and a couple of nicks that my alum block had a hard time staunching. The alum scolded me severely for my poor choice, and my Krampert's Bay Rum, usually a mild, cooperative AS, piled on the punishment.

Eventually, I had to apply some Krampert's Frostbite to put out the fire, but I am over Feather blades. Too many other blades work great for me, I don't know why I should keep these around.

Prep: RR/HTGAM Lime Menthol pre-shave soap
    Soap: RazoRock Muguet de France
    Brush: HIS Synthetic
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1st and last)
AS: Krampert's Bay Rum and Frostbite

  11. Yeah, it's goofy and gimmicky looking but it's got it where it counts. For me it shaves 99% identical to the ProGlide, which can give a heckuva BBS shave.

    Prep: Clear Essentials glycerin soap
    Soap: Mike's Natural, unscented
    Brush: HIS synthetic
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft
    Blade: Gillette SharpEdge yellow
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

Excellent shave! I had two day stubble, which was no problem for the ShaveCraft with a Gillette SharpEdge blade. The big soft HIS brush made abundant good lather from the Mike's soap. This is a very dependable combination for me.

    Have a great Sunday.

    Ingram's SC
    GT G4 Scuttle
    Lijun Finest Badger
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Gold Bond Moisturizing Lotion
    Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve ASL

First full shave with the Mayflower and it is a very nice razor. The seller cleaned it up and sanded it to a satin finish but, I will take it to the sanding block and bring up the shine. (I like shiny!) I worked on the Gold Bug last night and improved the finish up to a 3K grit shine and polish. Of course now I'll have to rehone all of these new additions after I rework them. Gives me something to fiddle with as I watch the Mariners game on TV. :D

  14. Prep: Shower
Brush: Omega (not sure of the #)
    Razor: Cadet TP-26
    Blade: Astra SP
    Croap: Razorock Fresco
Post: Maggard's Alum and Barbasol Pacific Rush

This was a great shave. I am really getting close to having a technique down pat. It was a DFS. I slipped (literally) once, and it wasn't the Cadets fault at all. So, I got a great nic but it stopped really quick.

A fine shave. Gentle and very good smelling. The Proraso Preshave Cream in combination with the sweet Mango scent of the Tiki soap is a very fine thing. Freezing Mango!!!
