Thursday Ogalla Bay Rum bowl lathered with TGN 22mm boar Gem pushbutton with Tedpella SS (4) 3 passes, cold water splash and finish with homemade bay rum
Thor's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave lotion Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Van Der Ginger's frankensoap Razor: FaTip Piccolo Blade: Bolzano (3) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (5, 6, 7) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Nivea Energy ASB Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange Wonderfully BBS results today. I took my time with the face wash pre-shave, and focused back in on NO PRESSURE while brandishing the FaTip, as it's more aggressive than the Merkur 41c regardless of blade. Three passes and only one tiny weeper, with smooth results. The alum did produce a little residual sting, but I'm still getting used to alum, so that's not entirely shocking.
Thursday: Large Horsehair Barbershop Proraso Green Crema Pre Barba Super Speed/Sharp day 4 Yeti Snot SS 444 AS Balm Osage Rub AS Dolce & Gabbana EdT Today I decided to give the Snot a shot (I'm a poet and didn't know it!) and it froze my face off real good. What a nice lather and scent, and that menthol effect is murderously-cold just like my Stirling Glacial. The Proraso Green pre-shave cream added a top coating of icicles in my face, and after I finished shaving the 444 balm and the Rubby Dubby Doo turned my face into a solid block of ice. BBS as BBS could be!
Thursday-Two Figaro’s Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap Soap: BDF-Mistero Razor: Gillette Slim Blade: Perma-Sharp (2) Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip 22mmx48mm Aftershave: Figaro WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit) I wanted to use the Barbiere di Figaro Mistero again. Along with the Slim and Perma-Sharp, I got a great shave this morning. I finished up with the Figaro AS (Hungary). Bob
Prep: Hot shower and Stirling bath soap Lather: Stirling Barbershop Brush: Stirling best badger Razor: Merkur 34HD Blade: Dura 7 o'Clock Platinum Post: Cold water rinse and Captain's Choice Lime 20 minutes from start of shower to wiping down the sink. 3 passes and a DFS. I am only using Barbershop for the month of April and I keep liking this soap more and more. My lather has gotten thick and slick and doesn't take that long to build on my face.
Thursday: hot shower w/Grandpa's Sandalwood bar soap Homemade PSO SchickGrip 2+ passes Schick (1) Omega boar Musgo Real Oak Moss cream (sample) in a warm mug Thayers unscented w/aloe Musgo Real Oak Moss AS (sample) Great to be back home in my shave den after shaving out of a dopp bag for a few days. Picked up some treasures that need to be cleaned and posted in The Haul maybe this weekend. No time for pics today as it's back to work but I do want to make mention of giving my SchickGrip it's first shave (on my face, at least) after cleaning it up last night. It shaves fantastic and I was tickled pink to pick it up for less than $5.
Wednesday, April 9, 2014 Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle Blade: Voskhod (1) Cream: TOBS St. James Collection Brush: Semogue 830 Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion Aftershave: Old Spice Excellent shave. Have a great day!
THURzDAY Three-pass, close shave this early morn with the Mühle. I now find I shave with DE razors rather quickly—even the more aggressive ones like the R41s I use—now that I alternate with straight razors most mornings. This could be simply a matter of how slow my straight shaves are that, by comparison, the DE shaves seem to fly by! Whatever the case and however long they all take, I still enjoy the routine and process! Have a blessed Thursday, all!
Best shave yet with a straight. Best part of it being that this was a rescue from the wild. Blade was badly oxidized and had some pitting and a decent sized chip. First razor I've shaved with that I've actually honed myself. Took 2 grueling sessions but made it work. Close and comfortable with zero irritation. Great old Wosty.
SOTD April 10 Prep: hot shower Razor: Aristocrat TTO Open Comb Blade: Astra SP(day 4) Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Proraso white Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: alum, firehouse moustache wax A pretty good shave this morning, but the Astra might be done. it's still giving a good shave, but it's starting to pull a little too much on my neck.
4/9/2014 Single Edge Week Prep: Hot shower with L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash, home made PSO Razor: Rolls Razor, PAL Adjustable Blade: Personna injector (3) Brush: Vie Long Horse hair 23mm knot Soap: L'Occitanne Cade shave soap After: Home made ASB, Stetson cooling after shave A late afternoon 2 pass Darn fine shave. The Rolls razor does fine on the cheeks and neck, but it doesn't quite get it on the goatee/chin area. I will not have to shave until Friday now. Have a blessed day!
Dove Men's Face Wash TABAC Shaving Soap Frank Shaving Finest Badger Cadet TP-30 Astra Superior Platinum (5) CWR Dickinson's WH Aqua Velva Ice Blue The Tabac shaving soap continues to grow on me. It face lathers so easily with my Frank Shaving finest badger brush. The Cadet TP-30 is a keeper. This was my fifth shave with this razor. It is aggressive, but I have not had any problems with it yet. Loaded with the Astra Superior Platinum blade, the razor made two passes and touch ups on the neck to provide a near BBS. No nicks, cuts, or abrasions is always a plus. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Dickinson's WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed.
Johan Engstrom WSO "White Lightning" homemade brush, same 28mm F2 knot different handle Nice shave this morning. Have a good one.
Solid shave Today I returned to Synergy Cavendish, but I could not appreciate the scent due to allergy stuffy nose. It performed as expected through three passes on my cheeks and one pass on my neck. Prep: RR/HTGAM soap Soap: Synergy Cavendish Brush: HIS Razor: SC101 Blade: Gillette SE Yellow (4) AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
