Had a good shave today. Chucked the VDH Select and am back to the Deluxe, which I love. The difference between those two is so incredibly stark, it's almost like they are not made by the same manufacturer.
    Have a great shave, everybody!

    Hot shower
    Prep: Homemade PSO
    Brush: Simpson Duke 3
    Soap: Stirling Ben Franklin
    Razor: Merkur 38C
    Blade Personna Red (3)
    Post: Thayer's cucumber witch hazel
    Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

DFS today with no irritation. Just received the Duke 3 as a birthday present from my wife. (love that woman). Used the Ben Franklin in an attempt to de-funkify the new brush. I'm not sure if Ben actually made it any better or made it worse ;)

I'm still working on straight shaving myself. The neck is the hardest part to get clean and close. Keep at it. I'm right there with ya.

    Friday:
hot shower w/Yardley Pomegranate Rose bar soap
    Taconic unscented PSO
    Gillette Slim (9) 2+ passes
Van der Hagen Ice Tempered Stainless Steel (1)
    Semogue Owners Club badger
Cyril R Salter Wild Rose Luxury cream in the scuttle
    alum
    Thayers Rose Petal w/aloe

Early shave this morning and no time to post until now. A couple of new items so I'm not completely sure what gave me the little bit of irritation on my lower neck (for now I'm blaming the blade) but it didn't last too long.

Van der Hagen razor blades that are made in Solingen, Germany and Teflon coated. Not sure what difference being "ice tempered" makes and nothing on the package to tell me. I paid $3.90 for a 5 pack so they're a little pricy. No markings on the blades themselves other than glue globs. My first reaction was that (in my Slim) the blade felt a little hot and the redness on my lower neck that hung around for about an hour confirmed what I was feeling during each pass. I'll have to give them a go in some other razors but for now I wouldn't advise anybody to rush out and buy some.

Cyril R Salter Luxury Shave Cream in Wild Rose scent. I hadn't had my scuttle out in a long time so I warmed it up while showering and soaked my brush in the sink at the same time. I don't normally face lather but did today and didn't want to stop massaging the lather into my cheeks. I think it was the smell of roses that intoxicated plus the wonderfully creamy lather I was able to produce from very little product. I highly recommend this product and look forward to someday trying some of their other offerings. Thanks Bruce for recommending this one.

Thanks for the scent description as I've been tempted to purchase some (up until now, that is) ;)

Yep, it is a distinct scent—although 'piney' probably is not the most accurate word in describing it.
How's this: Think early morning camping in the woods....damp underwood greenery...slight rosemary/lavendar and some other herb....
The more I attempt to describe it, the more complicated it gets. :D

You might want to consider if your skin will tolerate it, is Witch Hazel rather than the aftershave splash because it will cleanse the skin especially when having to use a strong level of sunscreen.

*facepalm* Thank you for reminding me. I've never tried Witch Hazel though last time at WalMart I grabbed a bottle that was on sale to give it a go, I just keep forgetting it because my Floid Blue seems to call to me every morning LOL.

    Saturday Morning Shave
    Razor:
    Edwin Jagger DE8911
    Blade: Rapira (5)
    Brush: Isana Men Pure Badger
    Soap: Proraso Green
    AS: Barbasol Pasific Rush

During winter I couldn't use Barbasol PR often because of it's freezing effect. Now the weather is getting warmer each day and I can use this after shave. Proraso and Barbasol cooled my face, I'm glad :)
Although not a BBS, it was a very close shave.
    Have a great weekend!

BBS again with little effort - this Rosemary Mint soap is another excellent creation from Rod. Its scent is nicer than I realized, it lathers very well, and it has more of a menthol effect than I thought although it's nowhere near as frigid as any of the Glacial soaps. The Wild Country balm is very moisturizing and soothing - a friend of my wife's is an Avon representative, so I gave her an order to encourage her. ;) :D

    Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Bath Soap
    Soap: Stirling Clubman
    Razor: Gillette Slim
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (3)
    Brush: Oscar11 TGN 2-Band Finest Badger-24mmx50mm
    Aftershave: Clubman

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

My first shave with my Oscar11 brush! This brush is fantastic, both the handle and the knot (thanks Oscar11)! I felt it deserved Stirling Clubman on its first outing. I was able to quickly load enough soap to do a 3-pass shave face lathering. I finished up with Clubman.

    Thanks Oscar11!!!!!
