Today I was lucky I had no Nick's or Weeper's also the big one on my lower left side of my chin won out, no blood. (from yesterday's "Blood Letting") After I used a brand spanking new blade. I also used my RazoRock Alum Stick just to be sure. I wet it and rubbed it all over my face. Let it dry then applied the Nivea After Shave Balm. Other wise I had an excellent shave. I was also provided the opportunity to Test Drive an Oscar11 Custom Shaving Brush. I also have a new handle that will be made into a Custom shaving brush. I will post pictures when it's complete.

    Really smooth shave
Today's back to school shave was superb. The pre-shave boosted the lather of the B&M, which is loaded with skin friendly Shea butter. My SC 101, loaded with a trusty Gillette SE yellow glided easily and comfortably through my whiskers. The Facial fuel provided a welcome boost for one not used to getting up at 5:30am after Passover break. BBS face and DFS neck.

    Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol soap
    Soap: B&M Ferox
    Brush: Plisson synthetic
    Razor: iKon SC101
    Blade: Gillette SE yellow (1)
    AS: Kiehl's Facial Fuel

Prep: Hot Shower-Mike’s Pine & Cedarwood Bath Soap
    Soap: Tabac
    Razor: Gillette Slim [6]
    Blade: Israeli Red Personna (3)
    Brush: Oscar11 TGN 2-Band Finest Badger-24mmx50mm
    Aftershave: Tabac EdC

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I pulled out the Tabac today. After 15 seconds of swirling on the wet puck, I had enough great lather for 3+ shaves. The Oscar11 likes Tabac. The Slim and Israeli Red Personna did their part too for a great shave. I also finished up with Tabac EdC.

    Thursday morning -4/24/14

Prep: pre-shave lather with @Dr. Tim Wilkin's homemade bay rum soap (left on for 5 minutes) and then rinsed off
    Lather: Godrej Cool Menthol
    Brush: Stirling boar
    Razor: Ball End Tech
    Blade: Super-Max Stainless (4)
Post: Cold water rinse and Proraso Green

If I weren't in a contest to not switch soaps until May, I would have used Dr. Tim's homemade sample for shaving. However, I did use it as a pre-shave soak and got to test out its lather making and the lather feel. The small puck is a little tricky to deal with, but I ended up rubbing the puck right on my skin and face lathering for a prep. Nice and slick lather, just like I like it. I left it on for 5 minutes before I rinsed it off. It did not dry out while I waited. The rest of the shave was uneventful, other than I went WTG, ATG and XTG in that order instead of WTG, XTG and ATG. Could not tell any difference. The Super-Max blade started tugging in the middle of pass 2, so it was declared done after this shave.
I will give a full review of Dr. Tim's soap after the last day of April when I can switch up soaps again.

If I could ever break away from my new Stirling soaps, then I could start enjoying my other soaps and creams again but I'm absolutely head-over-heels in love with them. This Glacial Obsidian lathered up so nicely with my large horsehair barbershop brush and within seconds the intense menthol feeling took hold, and by the time I had finished my first pass my face felt like it was coming off. The second pass made it feel like it was going to give me freezer-burn and the Rubby Dubby Doo left me feeling almost numb. Another brilliant BBS shave which left me almost as smooth as my wife and daughter. ;) :D

Thursday, April 24 - Birthday Week, Day 3

    Prep:
L'Oreal Icy Gel Face Wash, 2 hot towels, homemade PSO, lather, hot towel
    Brush: Simply Beautiful Badger
    Soap: Arko
Razor: '66 Gillette Ball End Tech
    Blade: Polsilver (3)
    Post: Cold water, Thayers, styptic
    Poo-Goody: Old Spice
    3 passes - W, X, A, touch up

DFS on my face, acceptable on my neck. Only a little irritation, despite three passes and a touch up. My wife and I are both enjoying the Old Spice (surprisingly). What I'd really like to find is a bottle of Hai Karate.

Now that's what a shave is supposed to feel like! I took a little more time then I normally do, and got myself a great DFS from the feather and 2+ passes.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
Razor: EJ DE89 Head w/ Weber Classic Handle
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
    Cream: Gada Original
    Brush: Oscar 11 Boar
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion
    Aftershave: None

Today I made two bad decisions. First, I decided to go with just a two pass shave. Although I got a DFS, I wish I had made the third pass to get my usual BBS or near BBS shave. Second, I decided to forgo aftershave today. I really don't need it because I use Cetaphil lotion after every shave. I enjoy using different aftershaves for their scents. I chose to skip it today for some unknown reason. Oh well, it was still a very good, comfortable shave.

Have a great day! I know I will. It's my Friday!

Edwin Jagger 89 w/ Utopia handle
    Astra Superior Platinum

    Dickinson's WH
    Pinaud Clubman AS

The Semogue 1305 did a great job face lathering Van Der Hagen's Luxury Shaving Soap. Two passes and touch ups with the EJ89 w/ Utopia handle and Astra Superior Platinum blade left me with a close comfortable shave. I did a cold water rinse and finished off with Dickinson's WH and Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
