Here are some pictures. Slim on left; Fatboy on right. As you can see, the Fatboy is a little fatter. :innocent Seriously, thicker handle and head; a little heftier. For me, both give great shaves....plus the are nickel coated brass.

    Hope this helps.

I'm right there with you. I appreciate the old stuff and have owned a lot of it just to sell it off with preference given to the the modern stuff. I still have several old razors but they are barely driven compared to my new stuff.

Actually, after reviewing the play, I think I'm going to bust out my Slim for a while. It has been a few years so its about time.

My go to razor is a 55 super speed. It gives me a great shave with two passes on the face and three on the neck. I also have a red tip, that I have to pay little more attention with, but also get a really good shave.

I am still pretty new to DE shaving and started off with an EJ89, but it wasn't until I picked up a flare tipped super speed that I actually began enjoying DE shaving and getting some good results. I wish I started off with a SS. Great razor, easy to use, good for beginners, and reliable.

I have a '71 Super Speed. I got it from my Father. It is a good razor and I enjoy using it. It gives a nice mild shave. I think it would be a great starter razor.

I snagged a '56 Fat Boy, for $5 because the adjustment dial was stuck. Hot water soak, scrubbing bubbles, and an old brush head on my Sonicare toothbrush and it broke free and cleaned up nicely. Good luck with your hunt.

I have 16 vintage Gillettes of different models, all of which are great razors. Not too aggressive, but still give great shaves. Those I use most frequently though are my 1962 Silver Super Speed Flaretip & my 1969 Black Super Speed Flaretip. So if you ask me they are great razors, but with 16 I might bea bit biased.

Never thought of using an electric toothbrush for cleaning, great idea.

Good score there. I love my slim. My wife also acts as a brake on the purchasing train. It's for my own good... I guess.

Yeah that's how I clean them also, good to clean with and the vibration helps loosen crud, and free tight parts..

I also have a 62' slim as my main razor and it shaves much better than my fat handle tech.

I think you should pick up a Schick Krona. They are mild like a Super Speed, but shave better IMO. They're still pretty cheap too. You can always get both and compare them. ;)
