Try some of the following. Tragedy: Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet Comedy: Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like it, A Midsummer Night's Dream History: the Richards and the Henrys (in order or they make no sense at all) Hint: read them aloud and the language will make more sense. You will also be surprised how many phrases we use every day that came from Bill.
I've been on a sci-fi alternate reality kick for awhile. Right now it's John Scalzi's The Last Colony. I'm eagerly awaiting Taylor Anderson's newest in The Destroyermen Series.
Just finished one, Heaven is for Real , and started a new one, a staff-read, EHC. Halfway through this final book of a trilogy, a re-read: The Guns at Last Light
I just finished Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus. One of the many classics I've never read. Fantastic read! And quite different from all the movies. I'm going to read Dracula next.
I think Dracula will also surprise--especially the way the vampire is dealt with at the end. I've always considered myself a bit of an expert on vampire lore, so I despise the way modern productions deal with the subject: Essentially, they are nothing more than soft eroticism about teens who just happen to bit one another on the neck occasionally.
Just finished Leisureguy's shaving book as well as "The Art of Shaving". Pretty good and great set of resources. I am also reading J.R. Ward's new book, "The King" in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Oh and The Linux Bible. (Yes, I am another Linux person!)
I have all 5 books of the George RR Martin "Game Of Thrones" on my Kindle. 20% into the second story at the moment.
When I was still an Area Minister, H.P. Lovecraft got me into one of the most unusual ministerial situations I've ever had to deal with. But I guess that's a story for another time . . . .
Area minister for whom? I was a UMC minister for 12 years then left but that is a story for another time...
I did my internship at a UMC church . . . St. Luke UMC in Bryn Mawr, PA. I was the Northeast Area Minister for the American Baptist Churches of PA & DE, 2006-2010. The region downsized, and I was laid off.
I see. Where did you do your seminary work? I went to Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, PA, which is now Palmer Theological Seminary, Valley Forge, PA. I started a D.Min. in preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, but it became cost-prohibitive.
