Tuesday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Sharp day 2 Arko Ice Mint SC Thayers Witch Hazel Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS Wild Country Cologne Except for a very small weeper on the right side of my chin an excellent shave. The Arko Ice Mint cream lathered so richly and thickly that five guys could have shaved, and its scent is so nice and its menthol effect is very good, although it's nowhere near as strong as the intense blast of a Glacial soap. The witch hazel and the Aqua Velva felt wonderful as well.
Morning shave. Barest stubble but got things to do today. Personna Super blade (on at least shave #2) Gillette Slim (4-6) VDH soap BBS with no irritation, etc Avon Structured for Men "Steel" cologne + just a touch of Clubman Special Reserve on top
5/8 Puma CB "Menta Terrosa" homemade boar Nice shave this morning. It'll be crazy today, be dealing with way to many engineers. Have a good one. BTW, I'm totally infatuated with this boar for the time being.
Dove Men's Face Wash Proraso Green Shave Cream Semogue 1305 Boar Brush Gillette Super Speed '47 Astra Superior Platinum CWR Thayers Cucumber WH FD Old Spice AS I am back to my Proraso Green today. It face lathers well with my favorite boar, the Semogue 1305, and I like the way it rinses cleanly. I did two passes and touch ups with my Gillette '47 Super Speed with Astra SP blade. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and Family Dollar Old Spice after shave.
Tuesday: hot shower w/Yardley Vanilla & Sweet Orchid bar soap ShaveSecret PSO Gillette Knack 2+ passes Astra SP (3) Semogue Owners club badger D R Harris Windsor cream in a warm mug Thayers unscented w/aloe alum D R Harris Windsor AS Interesting blade notes the past two shaves. I've gotten very good shaves using both Feather and Treet DuraSharp blades in this razor but yesterday's Lord Platinum and today's Astra SP didn't do well at all which kind of surprised me. I think this might be the first time I've gotten this much irritation from an Astra. On a more pleasant note, I smell great! I even used D R Harris Windsor deodorant.
Day 2-Tuesday-Stirling “7’s” Week 7 Days: 7 Stirling Soaps, 7 Brushes, 7 Razors, 7 Blades, 7 Aftershaves Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Scots Pine Bath Soap Soap: Stirling Ozark Mountain Razor: Gillette 40’s Style Superspeed Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (1) Brush: Lord Chesterfield/Carrington 3-Band Synthetic Aftershave: Tabac EdC WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit) My second “7’s” Shave: 7 Days, 7 Razors, 7 Blades, 7 Stirling Soaps, 7 Brushes. Stirling Ozark Mountain (love the scent) maintains a permanent place in my Den. I quickly got a great lather with the Chesterfield brush. The 40’s Style Superspeed and Rapira PL match up well. The Rapira PL edges out the Rapira Swedish Supersteel by a whisker for me. Great shave: smooth, close, nick free! I finished up today with Tabac EdC. Bob

5/13/14 Prep: hot shower and wash with Stirling Barbershop then application of homemade PSO Lather: Stirling Glacial Wintergreen Brush: Vie-Long 13061 horsehair Razor: Weber PH Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (3) Post: cold water rinse and Proraso green aftershave 3 pass shave today. Mixed it up with WTG, XTG and WTG. My neck is as smooth as its been for a while. My 2nd pass on the neck was more ATG than X and I stretched my skin a little more than normal. All in all, shower included, took about 26 minutes. Have a great Tuesday all!
Tuesday, May 13 No details (just a regular shave) but I did use a new brush today: a Whipped Dog Synthetic. Very nice. I've been using the same brush everyday for eight months now. The WDS was very soft on my face, yet it has a lot of backbone. I'll have to get used to the synthetic fibers, but I liked it. It's a nice change, and it will make a nice travel brush.
SOTD May 13 Prep: hot shower Razor: Aristocrat TTO Open Comb Blade: Feather(day 2) Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Margaritas in the Arctic Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: none Open combs might not be for me... going to go back to using pre-shave tomorrow and see if that helps with the feeling of hair pulling. My lather started off too wet, but I was able to work it out. The cold feeling from the MITA is still with me. It was partially potent today, rinsing my face off almost hurt. Is it strange that I love this?
Tyr's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm Brush: VDH Boar Cream: Godrej Lemon Fresh (Lime Fresh) Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (4) Passes: WTG, ATG (9, 10) Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB Cologne: Brit by Burberry Bowl lathered the Godrej this morning, grabbing the Shed-o-matic 3000. . . er, I mean, the VDH boar brush, for the task. Loads of lather made for two easy passes with a blade that's still going strong. I got a DFS result, and skipped the alum because there was no apparent razor burn, nor nicks or irritation for the alum to address.

TUESDAY My last shave at home for a few days before the Mrs. & I head out of town for some celebratory R&R. One of the smoothest straight razor shaves I've experienced! I am attributing this to the NEW strop, which has a completely different feel than my previous one. My technique is probably improving as well, but sometimes good results can be more about the right equipment put to use. Off to the Napa Valley! Have a blessed Tuesday, all!
